How Much Does It Cost Replace Head Gasket On 91 Toyota Camry?
I Have A 91 Toyota Camry V6 For Four Door That Need Repair On Head Gasket Or Need To Be Replace. How Much Would U Think It Would Cost 10 Best Repair Car in Flagstaff Directory ?

I've worked for a Jeep/Chrysler/Toyota dealer for twenty nine years now and there is no repairing the head gasket it must be replaced. Now if you got the engine too hot it may have a warped cylinder head as well. If it's just a blown head gasket my garage will charge between $700-$800 labor and about $125 for parts. If it needs some mill work done to the heads as well tack on about $300.00 more dollars. You're looking at about 1100-1200 at a Toyota dealership.
Now for what you should do. Find someone you know to do this that is either a reputable dealer mechanic or a knowledgeable trusted friend. If you lived in Central Illinois i would do it because thats what i do when not at the shop because people are coming to me left and right to avoid having to pay the dealers fees and labor. If i was to do this exact job you would be looking at 75-100 for the gasket and 50 percent labor of the dealership. That would bring you to about $500-600 dollars for a professionally trained tech to do this job. Any more and your getting robbed and any less the person doing it doesnt probably know what theyre doing. All my labor and parts info was directly from our Dealership labor/parts program. Hope this answers your quiry. Best Ten Repair Car in Flagstaff Directory

Cooling Problem On '79 Ford Bronco Bbf Top Ten Repair Car in Flagstaff Directory ?
Actually This Isn'T Really A Cooling Problem, More Like A Coolant Problem. Under Normal Operating Temperature My Radiator Pukes About A Gallon Of Anti Freeze If I Get On The Gas. I Have Replaced The Following To Try And Fix This. Water Pump, And Backing Plate, Thermostat (With A 180), And All Hoses. Can Anyone Point Me In The Right Direction Here? I Was Told When I Rebuilt My Engine I May Have Put The Heads On The Wrong Sides And This Could Be Partially Blocking Water Jackets, I Really Do Not Want To Take My Engine Apart Again So Any Information Would Be Nice. Oh And The Engine Is A Built Up 429 Thunderjet With A Pretty Rank Cam And .30 Over Pistons.

make sure you have a spring loaded radiator cap that meets the specks for your vehicle. the cap opens at certain pressures [usually above boiling] and releases coolant into the over flow tank and later the coolant is sucked back into the radiator. this is normal. installing a lower t-stat will usually enhance the problem because the coolant will not stay in the radiator long enough to transfer away the heat properly. it could be other things causing the problem, and the heads are the same so don't worry about that statement. any time you bore a motor you thin the cylinder walls allowing more heat to enter the cooling system. this can be a big problem in high performance engines so that's why the parts boys sell high dollar aluminum radiators. anyway good luck on solving the up chucking ford. by the way is that the original motor? how about the radiator Most Popular Repair Car in Flagstaff Directory ?

Why Does My Engine Coolant Have What Looks Like Oil Droplets In It? I Have A 1991 Toyota 4-Runner 3.0 V-6?
Its A 1991 Toyota 4-Runner V-6 3.0, 4X4 Sr5 - (My Spare Vehicle) But I Use It To Camp And Hunt With - I Was Worried About What Engine Problems May Be Arising. I Am Mechanically Inclined And Do Many Repairs On My Own Vehicles, But This One Gets To Me A Bit - Thanks - Bp

1st off, without proper diagnostics you cannot get a proper repair...with that being said...

2nd it sounds like it could be a couple of different things,,,a blown head gasket or a cracked head or block (not likely though).

3rd, if it's not overflowing with oil and there isn't any water in your oil then let it go until you have more time and money to replace the gaskets. It is a time consuming job and while you're at it you might as well replace the timing belt/chain and gears(if necessary) as well as the oil/filter and anti-freeze because you're gonna have to take it all apart anyway.

Even in a large shop it averages about a day and a half to 2 days for this type of job. AND that's not including MURPHY'S LAW. This job can be done with the engine still in the car but it's much easier if you pull it completely out.

Good luck and hope this helps.

Automotive Mechanic Vs Bachelor In Criminal Justice?
I Am Stuck Between These Two Careers For After I Graduate This Year. I Know I Will Make More Money In Criminal Justice, But I Don'T Know Much About The Program. So I Don'T Know If It'S Really Hard Or What? If I Go For Criminal Justice, I Want To Be A Border Patrol Agent, Or Something With Law Enforcement. I Know Some Bout Working On Cars, So That Career Won'T Be To Bad, But I Don'T Know If That Is What I Want To Do For The Rest Of My Life. Can Anyone Give Me A Little Detail On The Criminal Justice Degree? Thanks Alot!

Be warned that these are very specific degrees and with law enforcement you don't need a criminal justice degree to get a job working law enforcement. The difficulty of the degree depends on you and that particular program.
I've taken a number of courses in auto and criminal justice at the community college level and the automotive classes were fairly easy and so were the criminal justice classes. I knew nothing about cars though and I was taking them because my community college had a well known automotive program, especially for a community college, and I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. Both are great careers but also be warned that many cities have downsized their police with the economy. If you go with Criminal Justice also now that you will need to do a lot more then graduate to get a job in law enforcement. They will want to see a good work history, good driving record, good credit, you'll have to be in good physical shape, you'll need to pass a lie detector test, and more. I wouldn't be able to tell you about a criminal degree without a specific college in mind, but it will probably consist of courses like criminology, state law, etc. Really depends on the school. If you want to work border patrol I would also take Spanish, I would think it would help considerably.

1995 Ford Contour Problem?
We Bought The Car With A Blown Head Gasket. Fixed That And It Ran Fine For About A Year. Now It Runs Fine At Times And Won'T Seem To Fire At Times. Since It Runs At Times, The Timing Must Be Okay. It Seems To Have Spark And Fuel But Won'T Even Try, Then The Next Time You Try It Will Fire Up And Run For A While, Then Not Start Again.

get rid of it. joke it could be ignition module

1986 Bronco 2 Oil Leak?
I Have A 1986 Ford Bronco 2 With A 2.9 Liter V6. It Was Leaking Oil Pretty Bad So Me And My Friend Replaced Most Of The Gaskets (From The Head Gaskets And Up). I Thought That Much Would Fix The Oil Leak. Once I Got Done I Changed The Oil And Filter. But It'S Still Leaking Oil. Im Not Sure Where From Though. When It Is Running You Can See Engine Oil Leaking From Above The Oil Filter, Dripping Off The Filter And Its Dripping From The Transmission Pan. And Bellhousing.. So Could This Be The Rear Main Seal? Or What. Its Not Leaking From The Head Gaskets Or Any Of The Gaskets I Replaced. But It Does Look Like Its Leaking From A Little Bit Higher Than The Oil Filter. Anyone Got Any Ideas??

If I remember right there is a part that bolts to the block to adapt the filter location on the block. There is a O-ring that goes bad there. I used to know the part number, it is an obscure part that does not show up in most parts books.

Whats Going On With My Car If Its Over Heating And Dying When In Park? '95 Toyota 4Runner?
I Have A '95 Toyota 4Runner, And When I Start It Up, It Dies. Also, When I Start Giving It Gas It Starts To Over Heat. Any Ideas Of What Could Be Wrong?

Some of those 4Runners had weak head gaskets that might leak. Head gaskets leaking - coolant in the cylinders - may foul out the plugs on start up. When you get it running the exhaust gas leaks into the coolant and causes it to overheat. Run a compression test on it. On a 19 year old truck it could be almost anything - though.
