Issues To Consider About Auto Repair It may be a very stressful situation when worrying in regards to what company to select

for the auto repair, but provided that you know how to make this process it can be quite simple. Every company will claim they may have the most effective mechanics and give the cheapest prices, but clearly which is far from the truth. The simplest way to know that you are currently getting the best repair for your lowest price would be to make time to do your homework. The initial step to finding the optimum clients are to search for the reviews which were left by previous customers. Most likely you might have more mechanics in your area than you may count. It can be difficult to choose which companies to even compare to others. Choose a site that offers the solution to see their reviews with a general star level. After that you should certainly discover the top 10 companies in your area. Then you certainly should make time to browse the reviews which have been left by their past clients. Understand that there definitely will be negative reviews, regardless how good the corporation is, although the vast majority should be positive. Try to find negative reviews that share the same issues, like needing to bring their vehicle back a shorter amount of time because it actually was not yet fixed. Any shop should e in a position to diagnose and correct a vehicle the first time. From the initial listing of 10 you should be able to narrow it as a result of 3 different businesses that are the most beneficial. You may then call each and ask when they are willing to provide a quote cost-free. When they have made your best 3 list they must be a lot more than willing to achieve this. That way you can determine what they think being the issue in addition to anything they think it is going to cost. When you have quotes from all of 3 you may then decide who to make use of. It may be tempting to decide simply depending on the cost, so how they treat you should also be considered. Customer service is vital when it comes to auto repair. If they are prepared to explain everything to you personally and show you that they can feel that you may have value they then are truly thinking about obtaining your business and keeping it. Consider every factor of your interaction before making a decision about which mechanic you imagine is better to service your vehicle. Every auto mechanic will claim that they have the very best costs, from parts to service, but the truth is they all differ in several ways. Make time to investigate how others have felt concerning their service, what their prices are and how you personally felt whenever you visited their shop. This is the easiest way to look for a quality auto repair center which will meet your needs and expectations.

Can A Oil Leak Cause My Starter To Go Bad?
Hello. I Have A 1995 4Runner. When I Go To Start It Mostly In The Morning I Only Hear A Click. Then A Few Tries Later It Starts Really Weak. Other Times It Fires Right Up No Problem. Im Wondering If Its The Battery Or Starter Contacts. My Car Has An Oil Leak On The Passenger Side And When I Look At The Starter The Wires That Connect To The Starter Both Have A Fair Amount Of Oil On Them. Could The Oil Leak Have Caused My Starter To Go Bad? The Leak Is Coming From The Valve Gasket On The Passenger Side Above The Starter. Any Help Would Be Great. I Paid To Have Both Gaskets Replaced And They Only Did One Since The Passenger Side Is Really Hard To Do I Believe They Skipped It. Now My Starter Is Acting Up And Has Oil All Over It. Its Fresh Oil Not Just Black Grease From The Engine Bay.

oil is a conductor. repair the leak, clean the terminals on the starter. if there's still an issue, pull the starter and take it to an auto store for and bench test.

regarding the rocker/cam cover leak, re-torque fasteners or replace gasket.

FYI,
the 3VZE is known for the rt exhaust manifold pipe cooking the 5-6 cylinder area as it goes over the bell housing aft of both heads. it cooks the valves, seals, head gaskets, rocker/cam cover gaskets, and any hoses back there. toyota has taken steps to prevent this by your model year, but cases still pop up from time to time. specially if they are run hard a lot. so keep an eye on it.

owner 93 toy pu 3VZE 200,000+ no issues.

How Likely Is It To Get Ripped Off By An Auto Mechanic?
I'Ve Heard Of This Before. I Live In A Small Town And There Is Only One Car Shop Nearby. I Took My Car In The Other Day For A Routine Oil Change And When I Came To Pick It Up They Told Me That I Needed New Radiator Hoses, Two New Tires, And Some Part Of My Axle (Heads, Hammers, Something Like That) That Totaled Around 1000 Bucks. My Car Has Been Driving Fine And Continues To Do So, But I Know Nothing About Cars, So I'M Curious As To Whether Or Not I Could Be Getting Lied To.

I used to work as a mechanic, and while there are dishonest mechanics out there, the fact that you're asking this question indicates that you're fairly ignorant about automobile maintenance. I don't mean that in a bad way, but not everybody knows how to check radiator hoses, brakes, etc. As a mechanic, you see people all the time who don't know or care about automotive maintenance. Their cars are barely roadworthy. So you take your car to the mechanic for an oil change, and while he's under there, he's looking for worn items. This doesn't necessarily mean he's trying to rip you off, he is doing his job.

Let's put it another way - You take your car in for an oil change, and three days later, you blow a radiator hose, and are stuck on the side of the road in the middle of the night, or in the middle of a desert or on a busy freeway. You'll go back to this shop and ream the mechanic for not bringing this worn out hose to your attention. Do you feel ripped off now?

Now, how to keep from getting ripped off? Any reputable, honest mechanic will take the time to show you what work he thinks needs to be done, and explain why it needs to be done and what could happen if it isn't replaced/repaired.

My advice is, talk to the mechanic, don't assume he's trying to rip you off, but educate yourself a little so you'll know whether he is legitimately concerned about your safety or if he's trying to make a fast buck off you. If he is being honest, them figure out which repair is the most urgent, and get that done, then the next urgent, etc.

Or, buy yourself a new car and then you won't have to worry about this for a few years.

Anyone Have Any Solutions To Getting A Front Pipe Free From An Exhaust Manifold Without Snapping The Studs Off?
I Have A Blown Flange Gasket And Cant Get The Nuts Free From The Studs On A 1993 Toyota Camry Xle V6 3Vfe Engine. The Part 7$ But I Cant Get The Nuts Loose I Dont Want To Snap The Studs Off The Manifold Of Course And Cant Get A Torch In There To Heat It Up Obviously Whats The Solution?

A die grinder with a stone. If you are brave a 4" grinder. Hit it with a penetrating oil first and cut it so that you can still get a wrench on it. A little damage to the threads can be expected. There is also a tool called a "Nut cracker" that splits the nut, but these sometimes are hard to get into the space the frozen nut is at (as if a 4" grinder isn't).

If Iam Not The Registered Can I Bring The Smog Certificate To Get New Tags?
To The Dmv. In California? My Gf Is The Owner But Will Not Be With Me At The Dmv

Sure you can. But why would you? Is it just a renewal? Send it in the mail or do it online. No one goes to the dmv for a renewal. Why would you want to subject your self to that? If you have passed a smog DMV had it in their system. They do not need the actual certificate. They just need the fees now. As long as someone pays they do not cares who shows up.

Or go AAA if you are a member.

Should You Charge Family Members For Auto Repair Work?
My Husband Works On Other People's Car's As A Sideline To Earn A Little Extra Cash. Including My Mother's Car. (She Is A Widow, Elderly And On A Fixed Income.) He Recently Saved Her Roughly $800 Dollars. He Wants To Charge Her The Same Rate As His Regular Customers. I Think He Should Reduce His Rate To 50% Or Not Charge Her At All. While We Were Discussing This He Also Brought Up That He Doesn't Charge Her For The Handy-Man Tasks He Does Around Her House So He Should Be Justified In Charging Her The Full Rate On Her Car. I Think This Is Greedy And Ungrateful - She Is My Mother! How Many Other People Charge Their Families For Working On Their Cars, Or Doing Odd-Jobs Like Changing A Light-Bulb? Am I Being Stubborn Or Is He?

I also do auto repair on the side. While I was working full time in a factory, I charged my friends and referred jobs the same amount per hour as I made at my job. I'm not a professional, and I like to help people that can't afford to take the car to the shop. I enjoy repairs, so this is fun and I make some cash.

I fix my mother-in-law's car for free. She pays for the parts. I do odd jobs for her alot and I don't charge her for it. She is retired, and she is a great cook and I get rewarded with food!

I just think that what comes around, goes around. Charging full price to a family member is greed. Perhaps he feels he is being taken advantage of. Talk to him about this. Is fixing your mom's car cutting into his income since he could be getting paid from a stranger?

Problems With My 86 4Runner?
I Expected Something Was Wrong With It Because It Only Cost $800 And It Is A Very Nice Rig, But Then I Test Drove It For 30 Miles And It Ran Great So I Hopped On The Freeway And Took It The 40 Miles Home And Got Off On My Exit And It Died And Has Been Acting And Sounding Weird Every Since. Always Dies At Idle. This Is My First Toyota And I Do Not Know Very Much About Them And Would Very Much So Appreciate The Help. The Cylinders All Have 150 Lbs And All The Plugs Are Still Firing. It'S The 22R 4 Cyl Fuel Injected. Perhaps An Injector?

With that description it could be many things.

-bad gas
-bad fuel filter
-bad fuel pump
-vacuum lines loose
-check timing...make sure everything lines up.
-these old toyota 4runners are notorious for blown head gaskets or cracked heads/block. Check your oil...make sure its not milky brown or blowing a lot of smoke from tail pipe.

theres probably more...but need more info.
