Is Kia Rio A Decent Used Car?
Hell All - Looking For A Car To Get For Mom. Are Used Models From 2004 To 2007 Any Good? Would Probably Look For One With 60K Mile Or Less. I Would Like To Hear Qualified Opinions From People Who Actually Own Or Have Owned This Car. Let Me Know Of Any Quality Issues And How Much You Like Or Dislike This Particular Model. Thanks All Best Ten Foreign Car Repair in Kingman Directory
I think the first generation Rio is derivitive of what Ford sold in the US badged as the Aspire.
The Ford Aspire was an appropriately named car. It aspired to be a real car but fell short. Best Ten Foreign Car Repair in Kingman Directory
The first Rio had it's share of problems. Electrical, head gasket, etc... Really no worse than an Escort, Cavalier, or Neon though.
The current generation (05+) is a similar design to the Hyundai Accent. It should be a better quality car
What Is The Highest Paid Automotive Mechanic 10 Best Foreign Car Repair in Kingman Directory?
I Asked A Question A Couple Of Weeks Ago About Mechanics And I Saw That Someone`S Mechanic Teacher Worked At Land Rover And Made Over $200,000 A Year. If You Are An Automotive Mechanic For A Luxury Car Company Does That Generally Pay You High? I Have Always Wanted To Be A Mechanic For A Nice Company Like Mercedes-Benz Or Bmw
most Mechanics are paid on what is called a flag hour scale based on an hourly rate. so if a say for instance a tune up,and a brake jobwith turning the rotors. calls for a total of 7 flag hours. And the Mechanic completes the entire Job in 3 hrs. Then they pay him for 7 hrs at what ever his hourly rate is. but if that same job takes him 10 hrs to complete then he only gets paid for 7 hrs. 10 Best Foreign Car Repair in Kingman Directory
So a good mechainc who is fast and accurate can make as much as he wants in one day. So $200,000 a year is possible without working for BMW , Mercedes- Benz.
What Toyota 4Runners (What Years) Had Problems With Blown Had Gaskets?
I'M Looking At A 1999 Toyota 4Runner V6 And I'M Wondering If There'S A High Likelihood Of The Head Gaskets Going Out. Or We'Re Those Problems Fixed By That Year 10 Best Foreign Car Repair in Kingman Directory?
Head gaskets haven't really been a trouble spot on either of the 3rd-generation (1996-2002) engines. There is the occasional head gasket failure in that generation, but the percentage isn't large enough to be notable.
The engine with the most notorious head gasket issues was the 3VZ-E 3.0L V6 that was available in 4runners from 1988-1995. Even then, the problematic head gaskets were replaced by Toyota under a service bulletin and the failure rate on the replaced gaskets is not high enough for concern. The rumor mill ran wild with the initial head gasket failures, so the 3VZ-E still has a tarnished reputation, even though it's a fairly decent engine as a whole. 10 Best Foreign Car Repair in Kingman Directory
I Failed My Smog Test?
My 2001 Cadillac Deville Just Failed The Smog Test. It Said It Was The Vehicle Failing The Mil/Check Engine Light Test Due To Failure To Successfully Complete All Obd Self Tests. Also The Obd Diagnostics Said The Catalyst Was Not Ready And The Evaporative System Not Ready. Can Anyone Explain This To Me And Suggest What I Should Do? Thanks Best Ten Foreign Car Repair in Kingman Directory
The car runs some tests of the emissions system as you drive it. Sometimes these tests require several hundred miles of normal driving to complete, or specific types of driving, called a "drive cycle". For example, some tests might require the car to be warmed up and going over 35 mph for a certain amount of time.
OBD means On Board Diagnostics. Having OBD tests not complete means the OBD system hasn't had time to complete all its tests. This can happen if the battery was replaced or run dead recently.
http://www.justanswer.com/cadillac/2ujzp-need-drive-cycle-cadillac-seville-sls-2001.html shows a drive cycle. You just need to do the ones related to the catalyst (5 minutes of steady 55-60mph). That should take care of your evap system also. If not, do the ones that say "EVAP purge" also. Top Ten Foreign Car Repair in Kingman Directory
How Do You Change The Water Pump In A '95 Ford Contour Do You Have To Remove The Motor Mount Or Timing Belt Best Ten Foreign Car Repair in Kingman Directory?
For the V6 of this model year, it's relatively easy. Best to ensure the engine cannot be started by removing the battery ground cable first. While draining the coolant via the rad petcock (don't ask me how these things get their names), remove the plastic cover over the front cylinder bank. The water pump should then be visble on the driver side of the block below the front head. It is driven by the front camshaft pulley and a belt that uses a small tensioner. You can release the belt tension by hand. The air filter housing cover and inlet that is attached to the air horn (on top of the engine) and anything connected to this assembly, must be removed. There are also a few small hoses, wiring connectors and other paraphenalia that will have to be disconnected. Make careful observations during dis-assembly and re-assembly. Sorry that my memory is a bit fuzzy on this part, but I recall that some of the pump mounting bolts are what are sometimes referred to as through-bolts (since they pass through something you usually don't want to disturb; in this case the pump housing attached to the block). I was careful not to disturb this housing too much; there may have been one or two bolts holding it in place that did not need to be disturbed. If that's the case, leave them alone and you should not need any other gaskets other than the one for the pump assembly. Always check your new parts for clues to dis-assembly and to confirm you have the right part for the job. Make sure all of the old gasket material has been scraped/sanded of of the block before installing your new or rebuilt pump. Most Popular Foreign Car Repair in Kingman Directory

Im Wondering, If I Go To School Like College And Take The Auto Engineering Courses And Everything And Get A Liscense To Become An Automotive Mechanic, Is It Illegal For An Employer To Not Hire Me Because Of My Gender?
it is illegal yes....but they may give you some other bogus reason as the reason not to hire you even though it may be gender based...watch out for that one. And..I'm sure there are plenty of places to be a mechanic that will hire you no matter what your gender so..If your good at what you do...most employers will see it that way...they're not all sleeze bags...most are pretty respectable.
Smog Test Nonsense?
Why Are Diesel Trucks That Blow Thick Black Plumes Of Smoke And Soot Able To Pass A Smog Test, Or Aren'T Even Required To Take It While An Engine Swapped/Turbo'D Jdm Car Can'T? I Want To Modify My Car One Day But I Keep Hearing Modified Cars Have To Be Illegally Smogged Because They Will Never Pass The Test. I Don'T Wanna Have To Resort To Something Illegal Just To Drive A Car On The Streets....
usually 3/4 and 1 ton vehicles are smog exempt. the vehicles emissions systems still have to be present and unmodified. in reality i know ca has a law on the books and probably quite a few states also that allows the state to confiscate emissions modified vehicles that are not an approved/certified modification.
also i know you hear you cant do the swap, but if you dig around, there are laws for legal engine swaps. they also have special inspections to certify the new systems so smog inspections in the future are routine. there are gray areas where the law contradicts. so research first.. its pretty much the same process to certify a kit car or one of a kind custom, etc.
How To Repair A Car That Over Heats And Leaks Water.?
My Car Over Heats And Leaks Water.
are you SURE its water ? or do you just see liquid coming from under the car ? if you have water in the system , like the guy before me said, you need to put coolant in that will boil at 230. but your car could be overheating from many different problems. It could be:
-blown/damaged head gasket
-torn/broken hose (radiator, etc.)
-extreme lack of air flow
-if its a caddilac, its normal. they run HOT & it always comes out of the overflow.
try to see where the leak is coming from exactly, that will help narrow down the cause.
type in your car year make & model & problems
example .. "1998 ford contour overheating"
What Car Would You Pick? A Nice 92 Chevy Caprice With 113, 000 Miles Or A 94 Lexus Es300 With 123, 820 Miles?
Chevy Caprice, Lexus, Cars, Miles
Lexus, without a doubt. However my personal opinion is to stick with 96 and newer. Personally I believe the diagnostic system (OBD 2) lowers repair costs since problems can be more accurately pin pointed by the technician. Also the ES series shares its powertrain, platform and the majority of its parts with the more pedestrian Camry making repairs more affordable than on the LS400 which has little shared components with the Toyota line.
Why does everyone automatically assume the Caprice has a 350? more than likely it has a 305 (5.0) that is a performance pig. If I were going to opt for a full size domestic I think I would stick with the Panther chassis (Crown Vic, Grand Marquis, and Lincoln Town Car) If you go for a pre 91 you can find a 351 Windsor, if you go 91+ LTC you get air suspension plus the 4.6 gets more powerful every year. Gas Mileage is also better on Crown Vics. If you get a clean P71 (police interceptor) you get the C8 Auto, (Trans, PS, Oil coolers) heavy duty suspension, posi rear, better gearing, upgraded cooling &electrical etc, etc the P71 is a better package than the 9c1 caprice ever was, why do you think GM threw in the towel on the large car market?
A 4L60 / 4L80E trans going 200K, I'll believe it when I see it. The Caprice is prime time for a transmission overhaul. The 4L60 &80 are basically updated versions of the Turbo 700R4 This series of GM transmission are not as reliable as the older TH350 & 400's
As an aside the 305 (5.0) GM has a nasty habit of blowing head gaskets.
Is This Car Worth Repairing?
I Have A 1998 Opel (Vauxhall) Astra 1600I. It Has Been Using Its Water For A Little While But I Keep On Filling It Up And Checking It, It Has Never Overheated.
Earlier This Week It Made This Horrible Scratching Sound (Almost Like Gears Scratching) The Engine Died And There Was Water All Over The Road.
The Good Side: There Was Water And Oil In The Engine When This Happened And The Car Did Not Over Heat. The Timing Belt Is Also Still There And Does Not Feel Slack (But I Am No Expert)
|The Bad Side: The Engine Does Not Turn Over At All Anymore And Just Makes The Scratching Sound As Described Above.
Any Positive Comments On What Can Be Wrong Will Be Appreciated. I Dont Know If I Should Have It Fixed Or Take It To The Scrap Yard.
How many miles does it have? All cars come to a time in their life.. and I think maybe yours has reached it.
A car is classed as a write off when the total cost of repairs exceeds the value of the car. I think your car may be a write off.
However, I'm not an expert mechanic (I know my fair share) and I can't determine from the info you've given what is wrong with your car, so it may be an inexpensive job to repair her.
