Both foreign and domestic cars are good some people are just ignorant when it comes to cars. Personally I drive a 93 Pontiac Grand Prix I've had the car for 5 years and I 've never had any problems with it. I got the car for 1,500 and it had at the time 130,000 miles on it and it now has over 175,000 and it still runs great and I don't baby it. As for older cars don't get any old Japanese car's from the late 80's to early 90's they all have body rot problems and also the electrical connector's are maid from natural rubber which over time dries out and allows water to seep into the electrical connectors and this causes engine and tranny problems. GM and Fords use synthetic rubber on their electrical plugs so you don't have to worry about the gaskets roting away. Also older Toyota's had head gasket problems with the V6 car's and trucks including the camry and Various lexus models with the 2.5L and 3.0L V6. Older Honda's are good cars they really don't have any faults except for body rot the same goes for older Nissan's. As for American cars they have their problems to for example older Thunder birds and Cougars had a problem with the plastic retainer that holds on the trannys kick down cable can break off and cause damage to the tranny how ever if the problem is caught before it happens than it will only cost you $4 dollars to fix it your self. Also ford old 3.8L V6 had head gasket problems they would blow at low mileage. GM's only fault from the 90's was the 3.4L Twin Duel Cam V6 wich was thier first attempt at an DOHC V6 its a good engine but not very easy to work on so repair cost are high but not many cars had this engine so don't worry about coming across one. As for Crysler well lets just say the 90's was not their decade.

2. and 6. Both sound related to a defective alarm system. Might have to take the car to an alarm/stereo installer and see if they can troubleshoot the problem for you. Consider removing the alarm completely.
3. Assuming you have the switch in the middle position, it might be a wiring problem or a bad housing. Probably needs to be replaced, get a used part from a junkyard or a dealer.
4. This is your most serious problem. You could have a head gasket failing or a cooling system leak somewhere. Again, a good local mechanic can inspect and diagnose. Find someone that specializes in Toyota.
7. Odd thing to break but as long as the shifter is working properly, you can hold off on this repair.
