How To Effectively Tackle The First Big Auto Repair Job Now that you learn how to change oil with your car, you may decide to undertake
a larger auto repair task. Oftentimes, car enthusiasts plan to take a DIY approach to car repair not just being a hobby, but as a means to spend less. Should your car keeps wearing down and you can barely pay for the parts to fix it, there's no method for you to pay money for professional labor. Prior to deciding to tackle a major repair job, take a look at several of the expert consultancy below! Research First You can't take apart your car and hope to use it together again again should you don't know each of the parts. Unless you have a rare vehicle, you can actually get ahold of your aftermarket manual to your make and model. These manuals are incredibly useful when you are identifying the various components of your car and how they may be assembled. Along with, there are super easy to follow diagrams that may simplify the procedure. In addition to an actual manual, look for Internet forums for help. Odds are, somewhere in the world, someone has already asked exactly the same questions while you. If you are stuck or you do have a specific problem you can't wrap your face around, post around the forums and inquire! Clear Workspace Area Taking care of an automobile takes a lot more space than many people would estimate. It may seem your garage has ample room, but you may be in for a rude surprise after you start on the repair. It's wise to clear lots of space and set up a workspace without additional clutter to produce your job easier. Repair Needs Time It's essential to recognize that auto repair takes a great deal of some time and perseverance. When the vehicle you wish to repair will be your only ride to operate, create a carpool having a friend or find alternative transportation before you take your vehicle out from commission. Expect to make plenty of trips to some hardware store and await your car or truck parts to come in, that may all devote some time. Keep Organized It's very easy to take something apart, but it may become a nightmare to place it back together again again. When you have many nuts, bolts, and washers you're removing from your car, it might feel like an impossible task to consider the way it all goes together. Prior to taking your car apart, require a photograph of how the parts look when properly installed. Once you've done that, label everything with a white pen while keeping them properly sorted in both plastic baggies or old egg cartons. You could have plenty of enthusiasm for auto repair, but ensure you shop around first, clear enough workspace, whilst keeping everything properly labeled. Many novice mechanics also have learned that taking the time to generate a checklist can also help produce a realm of difference! In the event you stay organized and go step-by-step, it is possible to correctly repair the initial car.

What Would I Need To Start My Own Automotive Repair Shop?
Im Currently A Ford Technician And I Plan To Own My Own Business. What Would I Need To Start My Own Shop. What Education, Experience, And Anything Else?
Education : Although I've heard of auto-techs who have auto-engineering certifications, most have just learnt through years of experience on the job. However, getting certified for specific technical specialties in automotive repair may be a requirement in your state - for example : certification for handling hazardous gasses etc.
Experience : Definitely THE critical aspect of your business. For example, you can learn about changing a thermostat in a Ford Explorer, but what makes the difference is actually getting your hands on one and doing it! I think you should ask yourself this : if someone called you and asked you to help fix their car (not knowing WHAT kind of car it is), would you be confident of knowing what to do?
Anything else : Lots. Setting up a business involves a lot of nitty gritty. Try this page for a start :
I wish you all the best. We need MORE honest, reliable auto-techs in the world!

Smoke Coming Out Of Exhaust?
I Own A 95 Toyota Camry My Car Was Running Fine. I Let It Sit For A Few Hours And When I Went To Start It Up It Wouldn't Start. I Heard A Funny Noise And My Car Started Up The Second Time. I Was Too Scared To Drive Anywhere So I Just Let It Sit. A Couple Days Had Passed And I Had My Boyfriend Look At It. He Tried To Start It Up, And It Wouldn't. Then He Tried For A Second Time And It Started Up, But The Exhaust Was Really Loud And It Had White Smoke Rolling Out Of The Muffler. He Turned The Car Back Off And Opened Up The Hood And It Smelled Like Something Was Burning, Like Plastic. Well He Wanted To See If Any Smoke Was Coming Out From Under The Hood So He Hopped Back In My Car And Started It Up And It Started Up Perfectly Fine, But It Smelled Of Gasoline. Any Idea What Could Cause This And How Much Repairs Would Cost?
so it was running perfectly normal and this happened with no warning i would say you need to start checking your oil and see if any coolant has mixed with it. Also check and see if you get heat in the car if no heat or oil has starting to mix with coolant then you got a bad head gasket if not that some other part has failed that has caused coolant to get in your combustion chamber either way its well over a $1000 repair. One last thing has your car been to garage for any reason or has anyone else drove your car is it possible something foreign got in your fuel if not you got a serious problem.

Having Car Troubles,Need Advice Please?
I Financed A 2000 Toyota Camry Solara In October Of 2009. I Made A 2,500 Down Payment And I Owe 5,500 Left On My Pay Out. Now, I Had The Car For 3 Months And The First Month And A Half Was Great Until I Started To Have Problems. The Car Passed Inspection And Everything But When I Went To Go And Get My High Beams Fixed, I Found Out That The Car Had More Problems Than I Was Originally Aware Of. I Found Out That The Car Had Been In An Accident In April Of 2009 And The Way That The Put It Back Together Was Terrible. When The Checked Out The High Beams The Lights Went Hay Wire And I Ended Up Spending 500 Dollars On Getting A New Switch Relay, And Another Switch Box That Goes To The Wiring On The Side That It Was Hit Was Crushed And Corroded With Rust. Then I Noticed That I Was Losing Anti-Freeze Every 3 Days But There Was No Leaks On The Ground. I Took The Car To My Mechanic And He Found Out That I Had A Very,Very Small Leak On The Head Gasket Of The Engine Where The Anti-Freeze Was Leaking. He Told Me That If I Got On Side Of The Head Gasket Replaced For $600 I Would Have To Replace The Other Side As Well For $600. But I Ended Up Getting It Sealed With A Aluminium Solution That Lasts Up To 2 Years For $130. The Car Was Fine And The Leak Was Fixed Then Like 2 Weeks Later The Car Started Running Horribly And The Check Engine Light Came On. Once Again I Was Back At The Shop And My Mechanic Told Me That Because Of The Anti-Freeze Leak I Had Some Of The Solution Seeped Onto My Sensors And Now I Have To Get Them Replaced Plus I Need A Tune Up Which Is $800 Dollars. Not To Mention The Fact That I Have Been In A Rental Car At My Own Expense For A Month Which Has Cost Me $1500. My Car Is Going To Be Fixed This Week And I Want To Trade It Into A Real Dealer Ship And Get A Fairly Brand New Car But If I Trade The Car In It Will Only Knock Off $1500 Off Of My Pay Off Amount And I Want To Put $1500 With It Leaving Me With 2500 Dollars In Negative Equity. Plus In Need At Least 2 To 3 Months To Get The Money And Boost My Credit Score Up 50 Ponits To Get A New Car And I Dont Know If Thi Car Is Going To Hold Up Or Not After This Last Repair. Someone Please Give Me Some Advice. Also When I Took The Car To Pep Boys For The Corrided Light And Relay Switch, They Told Me They Think The Car Was Under Water Before But When I Did The Car Fax The Title Came Back Clean And There Were No Reports Of Any Water Damage, Just Crash Damage.
You cant believe the carfaz report because the car might have been fixed by A back yard mechanic and that wont show up on car fax. Put the car up for sale and try to find a buyer, maybe you can get some of your money out of it that way. It is possible that the car was involved in one of the floods around the country or hurricane. Do not drive it any more than you have to. Good luck
