How Can I Become Ase Certified For Automotive Repairs?
I Know That I Can Sign Up For The Tests And Whatnot...But What Do I Do About Actually Becoming Educated So That I Can Take The Tests? Is There A Book That I Buy? An Online Course?

http://www.asecert.org will give you some information.

As stated before, you need to have 2 years experience in what you are wanting certification in. If you want to be a diesel certified mechanic, you have to have 2 years experience in that. If you want to add automotive to that, you have to have 2 years experience in that as well. You want to be ASE service consultant certified too, you have to have 2 years experience in that as well.

You can take the tests and pass them but you will not receive a certificate until you have your 2 years. You can substitute 1 year of hands on training if you have at least 1 year of verifiable schooling.

You can get training guides for most of the test areas. They are available from MOTOR, Mitchell and several other places. They will not be cheap, the A1-A8 test set will cost approx $108.

As far as learning from a book, you can't learn how to do auto repair from a book. The best thing to do would be get into an automotive class at a community college to get a feel for it. Then, you can try to get a job as an apprentice and work up the ranks. The best place to learn how to fix cars is in the field. I have been doing this for 21 years and I still learn stuff everyday.

What Websites Can I Go To To See If A Car Repair Estimate Is A Good Price?
Auto Repair Estimates

Question About Car Repairs?
If The Mechanic Says You'Re Car Is Beyond Repair, But He Charges You For Parts, Is That Right? Are There Parts That, After Put On A Car That Doesn'T Work, Then Aren'T Re-Usable? What About The Crankshaft And Cam Sensor? I Don'T Want To Be Charged For These If He Can Use Them Again. Thanks.

You have to pay for the labor on the vehicle to get fixed. As for the parts that is a touchy one...it depends on what is wrong with your vehicle and how much effort it will take to get the parts out. Also if the parts have been in your vehicle they are no longer new so the mechanic will lose money and may also be unable to warranty them if they were put on someone else's vehicle. The mechanic obviously doesn't want to lose money- despite popular belief unless you work for a dealer or a repair chain you aren't getting rich in the auto shop world.
Why don't you talk to your mechanic about it- if you feel they did something wrong you could call the state or you could take some legal action.
If the mechanic told you that the parts would fix your car though and it didn't I would say you shouldn't have to pay for the parts. If the mechanic, or someone has been telling you that you need to get the work done or warned you that it may not fix it then you should pay for the parts.

2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Or Toyota 4Runner?
Both Fully Loaded. Which Is A Better Buy And Why?

jeep has never been that dependable and since chrysler bought it, nothing really changed. jeeps are well known for engine and electrical problems, specifically the ones with all the options, and the v8 engines are the only ones with enough power to get out of its own WAY there are complaints on here a few times a month about underpowered jeeps going up hill on the freeway.
Toyota has for a long time been a lot more dependable than many other manufacturers, yes, toyota took a big hit in the quality assurance department recently, due to their overconfidence, and overlooking new developments while expanding to be americas number one car maker, (that is no longer true however) but the 22r engine and all the ones based on that 4 cylinder are outstanding in terms of durability, and longevity, these engines have one major problem after 100,000 often times a head gasket goes out .It starts to leak oil well before that, so if its caught, and fixed promptly, that engine may run well into the 250 000 to 300,000 mile range, (and still be running strong) that's awesome, on a small engine that makes good hp and has great fuel mileage.
