What To Know About Auto Repair It could be a very stressful situation when worrying as to what company to decide on
for your personal auto repair, but providing you know how to go about the method it may be really simple. Every company will claim they have the ideal mechanics and offer the smallest prices, but clearly that may be untrue. The simplest way to know that you are currently obtaining the best repair for that lowest price is always to take the time to shop around. The first task to locating the best clients are to search for the reviews that were left by past customers. Most likely you may have more mechanics in your neighborhood than it is possible to count. It can be difficult to pick which companies to even can compare to others. Look for a site that gives you the method to see their reviews in a general star level. After that you must be able to discover the top 10 companies in your town. Then you should make time to read the reviews which were left by their past clients. Know that there definitely will probably be negative reviews, regardless how good the business is, although the vast majority needs to be positive. Search for negative reviews that share exactly the same issues, for example needing to bring their vehicle in a brief amount of time mainly because it actually had not been yet fixed. Any shop should e in a position to diagnose and fix a vehicle the first time. From the initial set of 10 you will be able to narrow it down to 3 different companies that are the top. After that you can call each and get when they are willing to provide you with an estimate free of charge. Should they have made your best 3 list they ought to be more than willing to achieve this. That method for you to really know what they believe to get the situation and also whatever they think it would cost. When you have quotes coming from all 3 you can then decide who to work with. It could be tempting to decide simply depending on the cost, so how they treat you should also be regarded as. Customer care is vital with regards to auto repair. When they are prepared to explain everything for your needs and show you which they feel which you have value chances are they are truly thinking about obtaining your small business and keeping it. Take into consideration every facet of your interaction before making a determination about which mechanic you imagine is best to service your automobile. Every auto mechanic will claim they may have the very best costs, from parts to service, but to be honest they all differ in lots of ways. Make time to investigate how others have felt with regards to their service, what their prices are and how you personally felt if you visited their shop. This really is the easiest way to look for a quality auto mechanic shop that will provide what you need and expectations.

I Need Help On Know What Is The Smog Check Does And What If My Car Fails It ?
What Is Somg Check, What Do They Do And What If The Car Fails. Tell Me Everything U Know Plz. And How Much To Fix It? Asap Thanx In Advance
Smog Check is a State Mandated Emission performance test. If your vehicle is less than 10 years old and has less than 100,000 miles on it, any and all repairs necessary to meet the test requirements are the manufacturers responsibility (exception: vehicle purchased in another state with lower standards!).
Over 10Y &100K You the owner are responsible for any repairs necessary and repair cost is totally dependent on the cause of the failure. Depending on the specific state law you will have a limited time - usually 2 weeks to 1 month - to have the vehicle repaired and re-tested.
If your vehicle fails, get both the test print out and an estimate of repair from the testing facility, then print out in hand get at least 2 and preferably 3 more estimates of the repair cost, I recommend choosing the shop with a middle of the group estimate, the low ball estimate may have overlooked something or be trying to get you on the rack and scattered across the shop - at which time they will "find" several additional items which critically need repair! (Can you say "Bait and Switch?) Yes it is time consuming but it may save you literally hundreds of dollars - some shops seem to think a failed smog check is a license to steal - and unless you are prepared to do some leg work you will not know weather the services recommended are necessary / suggested / or just smoke being blown up your proverbial skirt!

I Have A 99 Ford Contour 4 Cylinder There Is Oil On The 2 Right Spark Plugs On The Threads, The Coolant Is Also Muddy Brown. There Is No Water Or Coolant In The Oil, The Oil Looks Fine, I Did A Compression Test And All Cylinders Ran 180 Lbs But My Tester Dose Not Show If It Leaks Im Curious If The Head Gasket Is Bad, But If So Why Isnt There Coolant In My Oil.
im not sure, but possiably it could be where its blown and the direction of the flow, or maybe if it has set or had alot of water in the antifreeze, the muddy look could be just rust
Oldsmobile Alero Electrical/Heat Issue?
3.4L V6, And While It Has Been A Great Car For Most Of The Time I'Ve Had It, I'M Having Some Issues.
I Just Had The Rotors, Pads, One Of The Tie Rods, And An Oil Pressure Switch Replaced. But This Is A Completely New Ball Game.
This Started A Year Ago, But Only Happened Once, So I Ignored It. It Was A Very Cold Winter Night, And It Was Spitting A Wet Snow/Sleet Mix, And I Was On The Highway. The Car Was Running Fine, But I Started To Notice The Cabin Becoming Cool, Then Freezing Cold, To The Point That My Breath Was Visible, And Frost Was Forming On The Interior Of The Window From The Moisture In My Breath. I Got Home, But Had Finals, So I Was Unable To Take Care Of It, But It Never Did It After That Night, So I Left Well Enough Alone.
A Few Weeks Ago, I Noticed That The Turn Signals Occasionally Fail To Come On. It'S Very Seldom, But Sometimes They Just Fail. The Heat Has Again Decided To Fail, But Now It Is Any Time There Is Any Precipitation When I Am Traveling At Highway Speed. The Thermostat Is Fine, Because There Is Still Hot Air Being Generated By The Car, But The Fan Is Not Blowing It Into The Cabin, So The Passenger Cabin Becomes Very Cold (37 Degrees Out Tonight, And The Cabin Temperature Fell Below 45 Degrees With Heat On Full). Another Thing Of Note: It Has A Hard Time Starting In Cold Weather, And The Battery Is Not Even A Year Old.
I'M Likely Taking It In For Diagnostics In The Morning, But Want To Be Somewhat Informed, Because I Don'T Want To Get Taken. What Is It Likely To Be?
it could be something as simple as a corroded positive battery terminal, the two cables that run to the side post battery are stacked on top of each other and have a tendency to corrode which cuts down on the electrical flow to your starter and computer controls. although it could be much worse olds alero's aren't very well built cars and you have a lot of miles and years on your car. you may be at the cutoff point where it will cost more to fix the car than its worth. you need to take this into consideration if you're looking at spending a lot of money on an old piece of junk.
Calling All Auto Mechanics...?
I'M Writing A Short Story, And I Need A Reason Why An Auto Mechanic Might Get Mad At A Coworker. Can Be Anything. I Just Need Ideas, And I'M Running A Blank.
Steals (or just borrows) tools - mechanics can be very possessive about their tools, I know I don't lend mine out to anybody!
Does a bad job - Any decent mechanic takes pride in not only their work, but the work of their garage too, and would get annoyed if a co-worker was doing shoddy work / cutting corners.
Slacks off - decent mechanics are hard working, and would get annoyed at a slacking co-worker.
'86 Toyota 4Runner Problem... Please Help!!!?
Ok... My Dad Has A 1986 Toyota 4Runner. It Blew A Head Gasket, So He Went Ahead And Pulled The Engine Out So He Could Change The Head Gasket And Change Some Kind Of Bearings In The Bottom Because It Wasn'T Running Too Smoothly Before Anyway. Well, He Got The Engine Back In And When He Goes To Start It, It Tries To Turn Over, But Blows A Fuse To The Fuel Pump So It'S Not Getting Any Gas. He Thought It May Have Been The Fuel Injectors Grounding Out So He Ordered Some New Ones. Well, It Still Isn'T Working. It Still Blows The Fuse When He Turns The Ignition Over. He Can Unhook The Ground Wire And It Tries To Start And Doesn'T Blow The Fuse, But Of Course He Can'T Leave It Like That. Does Anyone Have Any Ideas On What The Problem Might Be? My Dad Has Worked On Cars All His Life And He'S Just Stumped!! Thank You In Advance!
sounds like the fuel pump wire is pinched and is shorting out to ground.he needs to check for any wires that might have gotten nicked or clamped between the bell housing and engine.or around the motor mounts, when the engine was removed or reinstalled.that probably has the 22r engine which is a terrific little engine and is quite simple.just double check all wiring in the engine bay around the engine.also get a haines manual for the vehicle.they are the holy grail of manuals
Since I Don'T Have My Fishing License Yet, It Is Bad That I'M Hanging.........................................?
...An 8-Inch Huddleston Deluxe Swimbait Off My Backpack And Taking It To School With Me?
The Way I See It, Since I Can'T Go Fishing, I May As Well Carry Something Fishing Related With Me While I'M At School. Maybe It'Ll Help Take The Edge Off, I Dunno. It Could Very Well Possibly Be My Good-Luck Charm! What Do You Think?
Got my fishing license on Monday, went out Monday afternoon in Long Beach Harbor and got a 20 lb halibut on my last drift before heading in. At Costco yesterday, halibut was selling for $16.50 per pound. It's Thursday, and I still feel good thinking about it.
My point being, just go get your license and GO FISHING. It's so much better than thinking about it, or carrying around lures or hooks. Go for it!
Edit: OK, if you can't get your license now, next best thing is to play with your gear, which it sounds like you are doing. No problemo carrying around a fishing lure, if it makes you feel good. I don't see why people would complain if you're a college student. How about wearing a fishing shirt to school? Might help you meet other people who like to fish.
When I can't go fishing, I like to tear apart my reels, clean and lube bearings, replace drag washers, etc. Also, I like to practice knot tying, tie leaders, and pack them in a leader case. I sharpen all my fishing knives, repair my fishing hats, organize my tackle boxes.
Doesn't sound strange to me at all.
