Options To Consider About Auto Repair It may be a very stressful situation when worrying about what company to select
to your auto repair, but so long as you know how to make the process it could be quite easy. Every company will claim that they have the ideal mechanics and present the best prices, but clearly which is untrue. The easiest method to know that you are currently receiving the best repair for the cheapest price is usually to take the time to shop around. The first step to finding the optimum company is to consider the reviews which have been left by past customers. Most likely you have more mechanics in your town than you can count. It can be hard to pick out which companies to even compare to others. Locate a site that gives you the choice to see their reviews with a general star level. From that point you will be able to obtain the top 10 companies in your neighborhood. Then you certainly should make time to see the reviews that were left by their past clients. Realize that there definitely is going to be negative reviews, regardless of how good the company is, however the vast majority needs to be positive. Look for negative reviews that share the identical issues, like the need to bring their vehicle back in a shorter period of time as it actually had not been yet fixed. Any shop should e able to diagnose and correct a car the first time. Out of your initial selection of 10 you should be able to narrow it down to 3 different businesses that are the very best. After that you can call each and get when they are willing to provide you with an insurance quote totally free. Should they have made your top three list they must be a lot more than willing to do this. That method for you to know what they feel to be the situation as well as whatever they think it is going to cost. Upon having quotes from all of the 3 you may then decide who to work with. It may be tempting to determine simply depending on the cost, but exactly how they treat you must also be regarded as. Customer satisfaction is vital when it comes to auto repair. If they are willing to explain everything for your needs and demonstrate that they feel that you may have value they then are truly thinking about obtaining your company and keeping it. Think about every factor of your interaction before you make a conclusion about which mechanic you imagine is best to service your automobile. Every auto mechanic will claim that they have the best costs, from parts to service, but the fact is they all differ in lots of ways. Take time to investigate how others have felt concerning their service, what their expenses are and just how you personally felt if you visited their shop. This can be the easiest method to locate a quality auto repair shop that can provide what you need and expectations.

Unlicensed Auto Mechanic?
I Had My Car Worked On By A Mechanic (With A Shop) And Come To Find Out He'S Not Licensed In Anything. He Screwed Up My Car And Now Wont Stand Behind The Work. Is It Legal For Him To Even Have A Shop? Can He Be Shut Down? If So How?
It is not illegal for him to run a shop, however the good thing is that should you take him to small claims court over this, you are pretty much guaranteed to win.
- He led you to believe that he was a licenced mechanic
Even if he can prove to the judge that the work he did to your car had nothing to do with the problem that occurred afterwards, this will have no effect for him, for the simple fact that if you had known he was unlicensed you wouldn't have let him touch your car.
you would have a much harder time taking a dealership to small claims. you pretty much have this one in the bag.
you should talk to this "mechanic" and tell him that you are going to take him to court and talk to the Better Business Bureau, if he doesn't fix the damadge he has done, this may be enough to scare him into fixing your car.
but, do you really want this backyard mechanic touching your car again?
i would have the car fixed somewhere else, then take him to court and sue him for the cost of the repairs that the other shop charged and the cost of his "repair"
You should report him the the BBB anyway
best of luck to ya.
How Much Does A Automotive Mechanic Make In Ontario
I'm Thinking Of Becoming A Mechanic And I Want To Know How Much They Make, Thinking Of 2 Years College And 2 Years Apprenticeship
I'm Also Wondering What Ase Certification Stands For
I grew up in a family run garage business and have been a licenced mechanic for 25 years. I got out of the trade a long time ago and haven't looked back once! When I was in the trade, we FIXED things! We didn't just replace parts! I used to rebuild carburetors and take apart alternators to change the rectifier bridge inside...We were truly automotive repair technicians. I even (gasp!) used to rebuild motors!
Unfortunately, the business has changed. If you are willing to sell parts and lots of them, you can make a decent living in the trade, but it certainly isn't what it once was. When I was finishing my last year of trade school, there was over 50% of the students I was there with that were already out of the trade and just finishing up because of the huge investment of time and money they spent getting that far.
With some exceptions most mechanics don't get retirement pension plans from their employers so you better plan to invest in lots of RRSP's or whatever. You have to buy your own tools, shops do not provide them...There's a wheelbarrow full of money right there! When you reach retirement age, your back is screwed your hands are scarred and arthritic, your lungs are full of crap. Sorry! Am I giving you the impression I wouldn't do it again if I had the chance? Believe me I wouldn't!
It's a profession that is starving for good people...it's too bad that it doesn't reward them accordingly.
Is Vista Honda #^@%'Ing Me Over? I Bought A 2 Year Warranty, And Now They'Re Saying The Part Isn'T Covered?
I Bought A 1996 Honda Accord From Vista Honda Of Ventura, Ca About 2 Months Ago. Since Before Signing My Contract (Which I Had To Resign 4 Different Times, Due To Their Own Personal Mistakes), I Told My Finance Manager, Lee Robison, That I Heard A Knocking Under The Hood And Wanted It Checked Out. He Reassured Me, &Quot;Don'T Worry. It'S All Covered Underneath Your 2 Year/24,000 Mile Warranty.&Quot;
Well, I Had My Fiancée Take My Car In Today For An Oil Change And Full Diagnosis. They Are Saying That My Driving Belt Tensioner Needs To Be Replaced, And That It Isn'T Covered By My Warranty. They Want To Charge Me $300! I Told Him What Lee Robison Said, And He Started Laughing. This Has By Far Been The Worst Car Buying Experience Of My Life. I Ended Up Having To Resign My Contract 4 Times.
The Mechanic Said He Was Going To Ask The Front Office If They Wanted To Cover It, But I Haven'T Heard Back From Him Yet. Any Suggestions On What I Should Do? I'M Not Sure If This Is Covered Under California Lemon Law, As There Have Been No Attempts Of Them Trying To Repair This Part Before (At Least Since I'Ve Owned It).
I Hope Some Of You Can Provide Me With Some Helpful Insight.
Are you sure anyone would be stupid enough to warranty a 15 yr old car? Read the paperwork to see what it covered.
Its not a lemon its a 15 yr old car. Lemon laws are for new cars.
Why didn't you bother to get it checked out before you bought it either? Its your fault for not doing it.

Replacing Toyota Camry Engine?
Hi Folks - My Car Has Been Damaged In The Rear, But Has A Good Engine, Gearbox (Auto Transmission), Tyres, Battery Etc. The Cost Of Fixing The Damage Is Prohibitive. It Is A 1996 Toyota Camry 3.0 L Car And I Am Considering Buying A Broken Down Car Which Has A Blown Engine/Head Gasket And Replacing That Engine With The Good One From My Car. Does That Sound Feasible? Can I Replace The Engine On My Own? I Do Not Have Prior Experience, But Am Willing To Try My Hands With The Wrenches And Screwdrivers. I Have Downloaded The Toyota Repair Manual. Do You Believe A Novice Should Even Try Something Of This Order? Would There Be Any Issues With Safety/Reliability If I Manage To Do It On My Own?
Lastly, If I Find A Decent Car With A Blown Engine/Gasket, Is It Likely To Have Other Parts In Good Order? Or Is An Engine Failure Usually Accompanied By Failure Of Other Systems As Well?
an engine swap is not for a novice, there are far too many things you need to know before even attempting this , and as far as taking one engine out from another year and putting in one with a different year you open yourselt up to a lot of head aches. Its best to let professionals do the job or find someone w.illing to show you how, this would help save you money and gain valuable experience as well
How Recent Does A Smog Test Certificate Have To Be When Selling A Car?
So, It'S My First Time Buying A Used Car For School. All These &Quot;Top Guides&Quot; For Buying A Used Car On Craigslist For Noobies Like Me And I Have Yet To Come Across Any Advice Regarding Smog Checks. Apparently In California, The Seller Has To Provide Smog Certificates To The Buyer At Time Of Sale Or Transfer Or Else I Could Possibly Be Stuck From Transferring Ownership To Me So The Seller Goes Laughing With My Money.
But I'M Not Aware If The Certificates Have To Be Recent. Say 2015 Recent. Some Cars I Look Up Have Certificates From 2014. Or 2006. Or None At All (Which Confuses Me When They Say They Have Recently Registered Their Car).
The Only Thing I Can Pull From The Dmv Is:
- Provide The Purchaser With Evidence Of A Valid Smog Certification, If Applicable.
Smog Certificates Are Good For 90 Days From The Date Of Inspection. The Smog Certification Is Not Required If The Owner Or Buyer Signs A Statement That Smog Certification Was Submitted With Renewal Fees Within 90 Days Prior To The Transfer Date (A Vehicle Inspection Report May Be Required For Proof Of Certification).
Here's the CA DMV policy and requirement, which you have seen and read.
The seller is required to provide the buyer with a valid smog inspection certification at the time of the sale or transfer. Smog certifications are good for 90 days from the date of issuance.
Meaning any automobile you purchase with CA with CURRENT registration has valid smog certification of 90 days, after which you are responsible to emission test the vehicle yourself register the vehicle within you name.
