Career Change To: (Automotive Tech, Mechanic) Top Ten Alternator Repair in Sedona Directory?
Ok, Im Already 33 Years Old, I Worked In Banks All My Life And It'S An Ok Job. But I Am Tired Of It, Tired Of Seating On A Desk All Day With A Phone. I Want To Be An Automotive Technician (Mechanic) I Don'T Know Anything About Cars But I Love It. If I Could To A Training School And Get Just Basic Certification. Can I Start Working Right Away? Is It Hard To Get A Job Like That After Im Certified Or They Prefer People With Lots Of Experience.... Once Again, It'S Not Really The Money Or The Need Because I Make Ok Money Like 35K A Year But I Want A Big Change In My Life. Any Suggestions, Advices

I've been doing this for more than 30 years; automotive industry isn't what it used to be. Top Ten Alternator Repair in Sedona Directory
You have to keep up with ever changing demands, especially electronics, transmission, engines and drive-ability. You cannot afford to fall behind; if you do then you won't be making any money.

Right now it is bad time to become automotive technician.Nobody is making money. The economy isn’t that good and many people cannot afford to have their vehicles repaired.

There are few good Technical Schools but they aren’t worth a penny because I’ve seen student graduates from them and ‘expect” to make more than 18 dollars an hour, unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way. You have to start from the bottom and work your way up.
I've also seen them excel in tests and quizzes but failed miserably when it comes to fix the vehicles. Top Ten Alternator Repair in Sedona Directory
On top of that, many dealerships preferred technician that already has manufacture trainings, it is a lot more than basic certifications.

If you're GM certified tech, then good luck finding any job beside GM dealership. Ford won't hire you, Dodge won't hire you, and the list goes on and on or you can find a job in auto repair shop but most of them don't give you good pay and benefits.

Nowadays, good technicians are hard to find because most inexperience techs are just parts replacer, they really don't take their time and diagnosis any vehicle properly. Top Ten Alternator Repair in Sedona Directory
Example, Oxygen sensor codes, 99% of them [including internet expert] would simply replace oxygen sensor.
Good tech will interpret the code description and find out why and then fixed the problem.

Bottom line, good technician can easily make over 50k a year that because this particular tech has the will and motivation to keep up ever changing automotive industry.
If you have that attitude then go for it otherwise seek different job.

Good Luck.

Auto Repair Financing?
Are There Any Popular Auto Repair Franchises That Over Auto Repair Financing? Name Them. Rather Than Getting A Different Car, I Want To Fix Everything On My Wold Car At One Time To Restore It. Can Anyone Help Me?

Most repair shops are in the business of repairing cars not loaning money. Go to a bank, (one that you deal with) or a credit union and inquire about a loan to cover the cost of repairs. If you know any body shop people, you might be able to cut a deal, and possibly they will let you make the payments over time. Most of them don't work this way however. They need the money to pay their people and suppliers and to pay the tax man.

My Toyota 1997 Camry Car Has Oil Spill All Over The Engine.?
I Notice An Oil Spill In My Engine When I Saw Smoke Coming Out Of My Engine, I Did Not Pour Oil On My Engine And I Can'T Figure Out Where It Is Coming From. I Don'T See Any Leaks Sine There Is No Oil On The Floor When I Move My Car.

Rhoda,
I think you might have a crack gasket around the crank shaft and valves head. Bring it to the shop and them have diagnose. Hope it is only that and not a crack in your engine. It might be costly though. They have to tear it down and replace the gaskets. Parts are cheap but lot of labor.

here is an example on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sx-ubpo7k...

not sure if your car leaks around the valve caps or not.

1996 Toyota Camry Overheating And Not Picking Up Speed When Accelerated.?
160,000 Miles, Car Overheats And Smokes When Stopped But Once Driving Again It Cools Down, Now Car Is Starting To Kick When Accelerating From Being Stopped. Have Changed The Coolant Reservoir Due To A Large Crack In It. What Else Could This Be, Or What Is Making The Car Pull And Kick?

Hiya!

Does your car blow cold air when it's on hot? you really need to sort out this problem before you crack the head or sounds like the head gasket has gone already, did coolant reserviour get that large crack in it due to overheating..
What you need to do now you have replaced the coolant reservoir you need to bleed the water through properly as it sounds like you have air locks causing it to do this! Good Luck! ps.. a car with that many miles if it hasn't had a head gasket in a while it's sure due one.

Hey before you bleed the water just make sure the head gasket is ok, take off the oil cap & see if there's a white creamy colour under the cap or around the edges, if this is the case then its the head gasket...also check the dipstick to see if the oil is normal.

How Can I Make Alot Of Money In The Automotive Repair Industry?

I think Sandy hit the nail on the head. I started my own mobile repair business in January of this year after working in performance shops, including an extremely large Mercedes Benz dealer and could not continue working for people that are unethical. If you do what Sandy mentioned, you will be successful. Many shops have made it very easy for the honest guys because people simply don't trust mechanics/ technicians & for good reason many times. When they can trust you, they will never leave you. I have lost time on many jobs, but I stuck to the price and gained the trust and all of my customers friend's and family business. I can tell you from recent experience that when you get one good customer, treat them like family & repair their cars to the best of your ability, you usually gain alot of business at one time.

To add to the above, be passionate about your craft and constantly educate yourself and stay current. There are online web based seminars, workshops, etc from anything on propperly using a scantool or labscope to replacing timing chains. I doubt there is a room in my house that doesn't have a technical magazine or book that I'm constantly reading. Your best bet is to attend a good tech school. I graduated from 2 of them including the Mercedes Benz ELITE program and it was the best experience I ever had. It's the perfect place to build a solid foundation for understanding how all systems and areas of a vehicle works. Also the perfect environment to learn without speed or cost consequences . You don't have to know everything, but If you love it and are an honest person, you will make money and be successful.

How Much In An Average Termite Fumigation?

This is not as cut and dried as you would think. Fumigators charge by the cubic foot, not square feet. Therefore, if you have cathederal ceilings and/or a basement, it factors in. Don't forget the garage area, too, as the tent goes over the entire property and even over a fence if need be. There is no way to separate different parts of the structure.

It will depend on where you live and the price of gas fluctuation, too. Here in Ventura, CA, an average sized 1,250 sq.ft. home with a 2 car garage, no out-buildings, high ceilings, or basements, will cost about $1,300 right now. If you go direct to the fumigation company and not through a termite company, it saves money. The quote I gave you was direct. Termite companies put another $200-$300 on top because they can. If you need other termite repairs, then you need them. If it is stricktly fumigation, you don't.

If you need a termite clearance report, you can still get one from a termite company for about $75.00, which you would pay for anyway, without the additional expense. These people are highly competetive. Call them all. Remember, the termite companies almost always use the same fumigation company, so get the name of the fumigator and save yourself the aggravation of a dozen calls.
