How To Effectively Tackle The Initial Big Auto Repair Job As you now know how to change oil inside your car, you may wish to take on
a greater auto repair task. Oftentimes, car enthusiasts plan to go on a DIY strategy to car repair not only being a hobby, but as a technique to spend less. Should your car keeps deteriorating and you could barely afford the parts to repair it, there's no way you can purchase professional labor. Before you decide to tackle a huge repair job, take a look at some of the expert advice below! Research First You can't take apart your automobile and hope to place it back together again again should you don't know each of the parts. Unless there is a rare vehicle, it is possible to get ahold of your aftermarket manual for your personal model and make. These manuals can be extremely helpful in identifying the various components of your own car and how they can be created. Not to mention, there are super easy to follow diagrams that could simplify this process. Besides a physical manual, look for Internet forums for help. Odds are, somewhere worldwide, someone has recently asked exactly the same questions when you. If you are stuck or there is a specific problem you can't wrap your face around, post around the forums and ask! Clear Workspace Area Focusing on a car takes far more space than some individuals would estimate. You may be thinking your garage has ample room, but you may well be in for a rude surprise as soon as you begin with the repair. It's advisable to clear plenty of room and set up up a workspace without additional clutter to make your work easier. Repair Needs Time It's important to recognize that auto repair takes quite a lot of time and perseverance. In the event the vehicle you wish to repair is your only ride to operate, set up a carpool using a friend or find alternative transportation before you take your automobile out from commission. Be prepared to make a lot of trips to a home improvement center and wait around for your automobile parts to come in, which may all take some time. Keep Organized It's very easy to take something apart, nevertheless it could become a nightmare to set it together again again. In case you have many nuts, bolts, and washers you're removing through your car, it could think that an impossible task to not forget the actual way it all goes together. Prior to taking your vehicle apart, go on a photograph of how the various components look when properly installed. Once you've done that, label everything using a white pen while keeping them properly sorted either in plastic baggies or old egg cartons. You may have plenty of enthusiasm for auto repair, but be sure to do your research first, clear enough workspace, while keeping everything properly labeled. Many novice mechanics also have found out that spending some time to produce a checklist will also help come up with a realm of difference! Should you stay organized and go step by step, it is possible to correctly repair the initial car.

I Have A 86 Ford Bronco Ii With About 190,000 Miles And When I Started It Up Today, About 1/4 Cup Of Water/Coolant Came Out Of The Exhaust, But Then It Stopped After A Few Minutes. I Usually Know A Lot About Engines, But Could These Be Really Bad For My Motor?
It Has A 2.9L V6 With Cherry Bomb Exhaust And Leaks Oil From Valve Cover Gaskets

if its coolant and not condensation, then it probably means your head gasket is bad or head cracked and coolant is seeping into your combustion chamber. once the engine is running and gets hot it will evap the liquid so it will appear that it has stopped coming from your exhaust. and yes it is bad for your engine. also it could cause overheating Top Ten Auto Shops Near Me in Sedona Directory
Dor A First Time Driver What Is The Best And Nicest Cheap Car I Should Get Top Ten Auto Shops Near Me in Sedona Directory?
Used or new? What size are you? Good somewhat cheap cars would be the Nissan sentra, Nissan versa, Toyota camry, Honda civic, ford focus (these are cheap and reliable but have to be meticulously maintained and driven lightly, head gaskets are a common issue with these), if you want a good used car go for an older pontiac grand am (I have always had good luck with these cars with little to no issues), Chevy cavalier, toyota corolla or Camry, Nissan maxima, Acura integra, vigor, or tl, Honda civic or accord. Your best bet is to go foreign for your first car. They usually don't require as much maintenance as domestic brands. Stay away from Isuzu, Mazda, and Hyundai/Kia (these brands will cost you tons of time and money....some of them are good cars but why take the chance on getting a clunker). 10 Best Auto Shops Near Me in Sedona Directory If you're buying used make sure you get a carfax report to make sure the car has never been in an accident or had any major repairs and try to find a car with less than 100k miles on it. Up to 120k is ok on a newer toyota, nissan, or Honda brand.
Why Is My 99 Nissan Sentra Gxe Losing Coolant?
My Car Is Losing Alot Of Coolant. I Have Had It Pressure Tested 4 Times. Twice While The Engine Was Hot And Twice While It Was Cold. Nissan Did The First 2. It Didn'T Show In Any Of Them. Nissan Told Me I Needed A New Head Gasket. I Took It To The Place I Got My Car From And They Tested It Over Night And Said It Didn'T Lose Pressure The Whole Night. It'S Not Leaking Into The &Quot;Heater Core&Quot; Either. It'S Using About A Gallon Of Coolant A Month. I Dont Know What Else To Do But I Dont Want It To Get Worse. Top Ten Auto Shops Near Me in Sedona Directory I Had Them Flush The Coolant And Replace All The Hoses. They Also Put Head Gasket Stop Leak To See What Happens But I Only Drove About 30 Miles And Checked It And It Still Seems That It Used More Than It Should...Where Could It Be Going?

Well the early 95 model had the junk v6 engines..The also had alot of recalls so you may want to call your toyota dealer and have them run the vin numbers to see if you are in that catagory...The later 95 models had the new updated v6 that did not have that problem..this was also the first year of the tacoma which had that engine.. White Smoke Coming Out Of Muffler??Head Or Valve Gasket Blown??
What Does It Mean When White Smoke Comes Out Of Your Exhaust Pipe?? Is It A Blown Head Or Head Gasket Blown Or Could It Be A Valve Gasket Blown?? Its For A Ford Contour 1996 10 Best Auto Shops Near Me in Sedona Directory??
That would most likely be a bad head gasket. A bad valve cover gasket would leak and run down the sides of the engine whereas a bad head gasket could actually leak anti freeze into the cylinders of your engine and be burned and come out the exhaust pipe causing the white smoke that you are seeing. Car Dealers Auto Mechanics?
Want To Know What The Setup Is, The Pay Practices Of Certified Mechanics Doing Car Repairs At New Car Dealerships. Do They Just Earn An Hourly Wage, A Set Wage? Or Do They Get Incentive Pay, Like A Bonus For Selling More Parts And Services?
I'Ve Heard Some Small Car Repair Shops Do Something Called ' Tab '. Top Ten Auto Shops Near Me in Sedona Directory They Try To Find Other Things Wrong With Your Car When You Bring It To Them For A Repair And They Pad The Bill - Therefore The Mechanic Makes A Bonus.
Mechanics generally get paid by the Job... Thus if the book says it takes 1 hour to do the job the Mechanic gets $.$$ for that hour of labor. If he can finish in 45 minutes and start another job then he gets to keep the extra. They ALSO generally get paid a co mission on Parts. And the commission depends on the shop, how good they are, and if it was the original job or something they found afterwords. The big question is not the Mechanic doing the work at the dealer its the person standing between you and the mechanic they call the service writer (who may or may not have any mechanic experience--- I know of a salesman becoming a service writer) they are paid the big bucks to upsell you on the extras like a tranny or coolant flush, tire rotation etc etc. Top Ten Auto Shops Near Me in Sedona Directory
But I agree with the writer....When you find a mechanic you like and trust STAY WITH them... a Good mechanic will want your return business more then they want to upsell you on some added service this trip. Most Popular Auto Shops Near Me in Sedona Directory
What Car Should I Get?
I'M 15. I'Ve Been In Love With Cars And This Is A Biggggggg Question But Which Of These Is Best For Me And Why?
My Car Wants:
Mazda Speed 3
Older Bmw Or Audi.
Please Make Any Sugesstions. I'M Open To Any Car. Lemme Know. I'M In To Classics And I Know Some Of These Car May Seem Outragus For A Teen But These Are Just Ideas. Most Of These Are Jap And Foreign Lol But I Down For Any Car.
Actually Brandon, at 15 (and a half) you are looking at your first car and barely starting as learner's permit and a parents liability with insurance costs and gas costs and maintenance costs so very expensive and also that any car good on gas costs a lot now as a used car.
The question is how much money is available for the car knowing that performance cars have a much higher cost and if there is any loan involved you also need the collision insurance. What you should be thinking about is how to fix up and repair and maintain cars. If you will not drive many miles, you get a better value now on cars not good on gas. It is also helpful to know your physical size because a small person (no insult at all) has a much harder time managing a large car. You also should want a safe car. I'll look at what is available and edit an example or 2.
2003 Mustang Convertible.
Here is a project car that badly needs a paint job and maybe some other parts:
1964 Ford Falcon asking $4000
And a 1987 red Mustang Convertible
And who knows if this is 100% real that he wants to sell with a buyback option, but it is a great car for $5000:

Am I Really Responsible For The Smog Certificate On This Vehicle?
I Sold A Motor Home 3 Months Ago. The Buyer Agreed To Smog, License, And Insure The Vehicle And I Gave Him A Reduced Price. We Have A Bill Of Sale With These Terms And Both Our Signatures. Now The Guy Is Coming Back And Saying I Am Responsible For The Smog. I Live In California.
yes apparently the little butt wipe could not get it smogged and changed is rotten turd mind. I hate little pricks that make a deal and come back like some whinning little cacka roach later like a cry baby. Technically speaking you are supposed to smog the vehicle however if it is written down on the bill of sale that he agreed to accept it as is he is sol and the only way he can possibly get any money out of you is to sue you in small claims court. If it were to go that far the judge can likely look at your bill of sale and dismiss the case. worst case scenario is the judge awards typically half of what it costs to repair . but you are a long way from that point even if the judge agreed and awarded him 50 percent its unlikely he can collect from you because he has to sue you again if you refuse to pay so like I said its a ways off. If he shows up with and estimate laugh in his face The only way the judge will enforce 50 percent is if that dipstick pays to fix it before he goes to court. (he has actual damages) an estimate for smog is not going to be good enough If the guy is mellow about it and does not harrass you thats one thing if he starts to be an annoying jerk you may have to call the police and make a report of his harrasment and have him do things by mail only. good luck if he signed a deal with as is on the smog he is screwed .
Replacement Engines From Japan?
I Have A 1990 Toyota Camry Le, V-6, With A Blown Head Gasket Or Cracked Block. I Was Thinking Of Getting One Of Those Replacement Engines From Japan. Might Be Cheaper Just To Pay For An Engine Swap Than Pay To Have A Mechanic Tear The Bad Motor Down. Anyone Know Where These Low Mileage Motors Are Available, Or Had Any Experience With Them?
This is a good way of gettng a good cheap engine with low milage. Even under California emission laws, California seems like some hick ville when it comes to emissions compaired to Japan. Japan is very strict. If an engine gets to a certing milage the engine is deemed "not fit" anymore and needs to be either torn down and completly rebuilt, or replaced. They hardly last 2-3 years there becasue emission laws are so strict. I've delt with companies at work who deal with them, and I've never had a problem. Its not that the engines are bad that thier being replaced, its that thier out of date (an engine thats a year old is classed as out of date in some cases). I've delt with a company named "Japenese Auto Ltd." out of Vancouver (I belive) and I can usually get the engine to Calgary in about a day or two with no problems.
Is It Hard To Learn Auto Mechanics?
Auto mechanics isn't that difficult to learn if you pay attention to the basics. my suggestion is to learn how the combustion engine works first then go system by system and remember always a Manual for any specific vehicle is a must they give you the details for the specifics of that make and model. I have had mechanics work on my vehicles that i found out later had less mechanical knowledge then i do and have had to double pay for repairs. i feel that anyone who drives should know how the vehicle works so they can take care of the vehicle when it breaks down. or have enough knowledge that when it dose break down they won't get overcharged for repairs they didn't need but just the repairs they do.
Toyota 4Runner Engine Overheating?
I Have A 92 Toyota 4Runner With 186K Miles. It Has Been Running Just Fine Throughout The Summer And Fall. With Winter Here Now I Tried Using The Heater And It Wouldn't Blow Any Hot Air And I Noticed That The Temperature Gauge Stays On Cold. Figuring It Was The Thermostat We Replaced That First. While Doing That We Discovered That The Old Thermostat Was Missing The Whole Inner Piece, Letting The Coolant To Flow Through Constantly. I Don't Know If It Broke Off But We Can't Find It In There Or If The Previous Owner Cut It Off To Cover Up This Problem When I Bought It. So We Replaced It And Now It Overheats Shortly After It's Started. Thinking Maybe A Faulty Thermostat We Replaced It With Another One And Also Tried A New Water Pump. Still Overheats. I Know That This Kind Of Vehicle Has Had Problems With The Head Gasket And There Was A Recall So I Checked Into It And It Was Replaced At 88K Miles. So It Has Had A Lot Of Miles Put On It Since Them But It Doesn't Leak Antifreeze Or Anything So I Can't See That Being The Problem. I Noticed That With The Thermostat Out The Radiator Is Hot, But With The Thermostat In The Top Is Hot And The Bottom Is Cool. I Am Puzzled Because Why Wouldn't It Overheat Without The Thermostat If That's The Problem. Any Ideas?
It sounds like you're putting the thermostat in upside down. Try it the other way.
Does Blue Devil Head Gasket Sealant Really Work For Blown Head Gasket?
I Live In Nc I Have A 97 Ford Contour With 153,000 Miles, My Head Gasket Just Blew, White Smoke Appeared. I Went On Youtube And Seen The Blue Devil Head Gasket Sealant And There Was Alot Of Positive Comments But I'M Not Too Sure About It. If You Used This Please Let Me Know How It Worked.
you need a better shade tree to work under my friend.
if you just gob it on your wasteing time and material.
the white smoke is your coolant getting into your piston because you have an internal problem.
if you want to keep the car then get it fixed correctly the first time.
otherwise dump it and cut your losses.
