Head Gasket For A Toyota Camry?
I Have A '92 Toyota Camry That Needs A New Head Gasket.
How Much Would The Head Gasket Cost, And How Much Would Installation Cost? Just Wanna Know So I Wont Get Overcharged.
My Friend Told Me That Installation Would Be More Than A Grand. Most Popular Oil Change in Sedona Directory Is That Right? He Said Its Cuz Its Really Difficult To Get To The Gasket.
The gasket itself is really cheap compared to the install cost, probably around 50-100 bucks
I wouldnt pay ANY MORE than 1000 bucks for the install. Shop and/or call around to find a better price. I got my head gasket replaced for only 600 bucks which i hear was a pretty good price. If you know someone that is really good with cars or even a mechanic willing to do it off the clock you could probably get it done for even less. Best Ten Oil Change in Sedona Directory
About The Auto Repair Insurance...?
I Wanna Get The Auto Repair Insurance But Dont Know How Legit It Is... Top Ten Oil Change in Sedona Directory Never Heard Anything Else About It. Is It Real? Is There A Catch? If It Is Real Which Company Is Best? I Pretty Much Know You Have To Have Car Insurance, I Have That Already.
It is real, keep in mind that it only covers repairs for a wreck, not if your car breaks down. The better question to ask would be is it worth it?
My logic is simple but not for everyone Most Popular Oil Change in Sedona Directory.
Background logic point #1:
- Only insure what you can't afford to replace; and even then, realize that it will cost, on average, in the aggregate, more to insure, than the damage that will occur (otherwise, insurance companies would be out of business).
Background logic point #2:
- Unless you know something the insurance company doesn't know, in the aggregate, they know better than you do what 'will' happen to you, statistically; so they have priced that into their tables (see point #1 which is they plan on staying in business). Top Ten Oil Change in Sedona Directory
With those key tenets in mind, here's my logic (using generic figures):
Let's say the cars you buy cost roughly $30K dollars, 2 years old, still under warranty (which is your habit, let's say).
Let's say you drive from age 20 to age 80 (i.e., 60 years driving life).
Over that driving life, let's say your 'collision & comp' averages, oh, in NJ, about $1,000/year; in California, about half that.
How much money is that?
NJ = $60K, CA = $30K
That's one or two complete cars paid for depending on your local costs for insurance (which is the key figure as cars are about the same price, roughly, everywhere).
In actuality, it's even more than that because the insurance company was only gonna give you $30K for the car on the first day; every day after that, it dropped in value while repair costs don't generally drop a whole lot in value. But, let's skip that, for now.
Now, let's play insurance actuary for a moment. Best Ten Oil Change in Sedona Directory
You know YOUR driving habits; you know what YOUR neighborhood is like (e.g., theft), you know how YOUR kids drive; you know whether you drive drunk, or whether you drive many thousands of miles, etc.
So, how many cars do YOU think YOU will total in your lifetime that will be 100% your fault?
Hint: How many cars have you totaled so far?
Note: If it's someone else's fault, then you don't count it.
Let's assume, for argument's sake, you'll completely total two cars, all by your own fault (or by theft or acts of God and the like).
If you lived in NJ, you break even only after you completely total at least two cars (remember, it has to be your fault or theft-like circumstances)!
So, in NJ, you have to total more than two cars, just to get past the break-even point.
In California, the numbers are half that.
You would reach the break-even point when you total the first car.
Here's my summary:
As long as you can afford to replace the "object", it's generally not worth insuring because (and only because) the insurance company knows better than you do what your costs will be and they've priced that into your premium.
Moral of the story:
Calculate, over your lifetime, how much collision & comp costs you
Estimate, over your lifetime, how many cars you'll total
If the costs are appreciably greater than the number of cars you'll total, insurance isn't worth it (if you have the cash). Otherwise, get the insurance.

1996 Toyota Camry Keeps Overheating Very Badly?
I Have A 1996 Toyota Camry And It Started Overheating One Day...Well My Dad Thought It Might Be The Water Pump So I Bought A Water Pump And When My Dad Went To Put It On He Discovered This Wasn'T The Problem.
Well It Didn'T Overheat For A While And Then It Started Again....And It Just Did It On Occasion, But Now It'S Getting Worse. I Can'T Even Drive For 45 Minutes Without My Car Overheating And Me Having To Put More Antifreeze Or Water In The Radiator.
It Also Has Trouble Starting From Time To Time.... Best Ten Oil Change in Sedona DirectoryIt'Ll Drive Fine And Then When I Go To Start It Again It Won'T Start For Like Ten Minutes.
I'M Going To Eventually Take It To A Mechanic, But That Takes Money Which I Don'T Have A Lot Of...Just Wanted To Get Some Opinions On Here First.
put some peppermint oil in the radiator a little bit. drive it for 30 minutes if you smell the peppermint coming out of the exhaust you have a blown head gasket leaking into your valves. it is being cooked and exits thru your exhaust. if you oil looks like chocolate milk then its going into your crankcase.you could try putting black pepper in your radiator. if that does not work with the engine cold, crack an egg into your radiator and run for 30 minutes. i know this sounds crazy but i have used pepper to plug a leak in my radiator and it held for over 3 years until i sold the car and the kid who bought had it 2 years. Best Ten Oil Change in Sedona Directorythe egg trick is for a cracked block but it might work. you also for under 10 bucks and 2 bolts should change the thermostat, which i normally do when i change the waterpump.

Smog Test - Oxygenated Fuel?
I Had A Mechanic (M)Pretest My 91 Honda Accord. According To His System, It Passed Smog For Calif.
I Drove Directly To The Test Only (T) Shop. Failed.
M Measured O2% (Ambient Air) At 0.70%.
T Measured O2% &Quot; &Quot; At 0.30%
M Measured Co - Monoxide At .75% Pass.
T Measured Co &Quot; At 1.50% Fail.
M Claims The Problem Is The Oxygen Sensor Which Only Works Half The Time. Since I Never See A Check Engine Light, This Sounds Bogus.
The Differences I Can Find Are There Is Twice As Much Oxygen In The Air At The Mechanic, 1/2 Mile From The Test Only Shop. Also, The Test Only Shop Had Trouble Holding The Speed Constant; Too Much Up And Down.
In Order To Maximize My Chances, I Think I Should Use Oxygenated Fuel. Or Perhaps Use An Additive To Increase The Level Of Oxygenation.
As a Smog Check Tech in California... I can offer you this information:
The fact that the smog technician at the test only station could not hold your vehicle's speed constant may be responsible for your vehicle's failure. It is very important to put your vehicle under as little stress as possible during the smog test. Varying the vehicle's speed up and down during the test will change fuel delivery and potentially cause high CO... as we see in this case here.
Your vehicle's oxygen sensor should be able to determine the correct amount of fuel to deliver the combustion chambers based on the oxygen content. Assuming your vehicle's oxygen sensor is not defective I would recommend having the vehicle retested, hopefully at a constant speed.
If this doesn't work i would then recommend having a smog check repair center conduct a "feedback test". This test will insure the oxygen sensor is in proper fuel control.
I hope this information is helpful. I recommend visiting http://www.smogtips.com (these are the folks I work for) to get more answers or to email one of our smog techs personally.

Auto Repair Question?
What Is An Average Time, How Many Days Should It Take For A Auto Repair Shop To Call You Back With An Estimate For The Repairs Needed ?? Is 3 To Four Days Too Long ??
It depends on how busy the shop is, how many people work there, and what repair you're needing. In a very busy 1-2 person shop it can take 2-3 days to look at a vehicle. If you needed an estimate that requires extensive time to disassemble, they may want to wait until they are sure they won't need the bay and lift while they are checking it. Most garages don't charge for estimates (nor should they in my opinion) so they give priority to paying jobs. If it is a large shop and/or a simple repair issue then find another place to have it worked on.
Help With A 1998 4Runner?
Just Want To Know What Proper Care To Take Care Of A 1998 3.4 4X4 Toyota 4Runner With 200,000 Miles. I Want To Make It Last Long As Possible And Wondering What I Need To Do With It And When. Also What Will Need To Be Done To The 4X4 Parts As Well. Planning On Doing All Fluid Changes On The Exact Miles They Are Needed And When A Good Idea To Have The Engine Rebuilt Is. Any And All Help,Maintenance Schedule Ect Thankyou
the 3.4 engine should last quite awhile, adding lucas oil stabilizer in your engine should help it last. How much you use is up to you, its a little expensive to use 70% of that stuff in your engine every oil change. Plugs and wires. fuel filter. Drop the pan and change the filter in the transmission, without skimping on good trans fluid to fill it back up, possibly another bottle of lucas transmission slime. Make sure valve cover gaskets, oil pan,..ect. doesn't leak. Make sure coolant is of good quality. coolant should be changed every three years. CV axles can be changed out, but if they don't click theres no reason. The u-joints in all your driveline shafts can be swapped out. double check ball joints, tie-rod ends, bearings, sway bar links, shocks, and if your springs sag.(all can be changed when they are noticeably bad) At 200,000 everything is past due, if you start to feel like the engine is starting to head south, don't neglect the truck. a cheap junkyard motor or even trans always does the trick. If treated right that motor could reach well over 300,000
