I think the first generation Rio is derivitive of what Ford sold in the US badged as the Aspire.
The Ford Aspire was an appropriately named car. It aspired to be a real car but fell short. 10 Best Car Fix in Williams Directory
The first Rio had it's share of problems. Electrical, head gasket, etc... Really no worse than an Escort, Cavalier, or Neon though.
The current generation (05+) is a similar design to the Hyundai Accent. It should be a better quality car
What Is The Highest Paid Automotive Mechanic Most Popular Car Fix in Williams Directory?
I Asked A Question A Couple Of Weeks Ago About Mechanics And I Saw That Someone`S Mechanic Teacher Worked At Land Rover And Made Over $200,000 A Year. If You Are An Automotive Mechanic For A Luxury Car Company Does That Generally Pay You High? I Have Always Wanted To Be A Mechanic For A Nice Company Like Mercedes-Benz Or Bmw
most Mechanics are paid on what is called a flag hour scale based on an hourly rate. so if a say for instance a tune up,and a brake jobwith turning the rotors. calls for a total of 7 flag hours. And the Mechanic completes the entire Job in 3 hrs. Then they pay him for 7 hrs at what ever his hourly rate is. but if that same job takes him 10 hrs to complete then he only gets paid for 7 hrs. So a good mechainc who is fast and accurate can make as much as he wants in one day. So $200,000 a year is possible without working for BMW , Mercedes- Benz.
What Toyota 4Runners (What Years) Had Problems With Blown Had Gaskets?
I'M Looking At A 1999 Toyota 4Runner V6 And I'M Wondering If There'S A High Likelihood Of The Head Gaskets Going Out. Or We'Re Those Problems Fixed By That Year Top Ten Car Fix in Williams Directory?
Head gaskets haven't really been a trouble spot on either of the 3rd-generation (1996-2002) engines. There is the occasional head gasket failure in that generation, but the percentage isn't large enough to be notable.
The engine with the most notorious head gasket issues was the 3VZ-E 3.0L V6 that was available in 4runners from 1988-1995. Even then, the problematic head gaskets were replaced by Toyota under a service bulletin and the failure rate on the replaced gaskets is not high enough for concern. The rumor mill ran wild with the initial head gasket failures, so the 3VZ-E still has a tarnished reputation, even though it's a fairly decent engine as a whole. 10 Best Car Fix in Williams Directory
I Failed My Smog Test?
My 2001 Cadillac Deville Just Failed The Smog Test. It Said It Was The Vehicle Failing The Mil/Check Engine Light Test Due To Failure To Successfully Complete All Obd Self Tests. Also The Obd Diagnostics Said The Catalyst Was Not Ready And The Evaporative System Not Ready. Can Anyone Explain This To Me And Suggest What I Should Do? Thanks 10 Best Car Fix in Williams Directory
The car runs some tests of the emissions system as you drive it. Sometimes these tests require several hundred miles of normal driving to complete, or specific types of driving, called a "drive cycle". For example, some tests might require the car to be warmed up and going over 35 mph for a certain amount of time.
OBD means On Board Diagnostics. Having OBD tests not complete means the OBD system hasn't had time to complete all its tests. This can happen if the battery was replaced or run dead recently.
http://www.justanswer.com/cadillac/2ujzp-need-drive-cycle-cadillac-seville-sls-2001.html shows a drive cycle. You just need to do the ones related to the catalyst (5 minutes of steady 55-60mph). That should take care of your evap system also. If not, do the ones that say "EVAP purge" also. 10 Best Car Fix in Williams Directory
How Do You Change The Water Pump In A '95 Ford Contour Do You Have To Remove The Motor Mount Or Timing Belt Best Ten Car Fix in Williams Directory?
For the V6 of this model year, it's relatively easy. Best to ensure the engine cannot be started by removing the battery ground cable first. While draining the coolant via the rad petcock (don't ask me how these things get their names), remove the plastic cover over the front cylinder bank. The water pump should then be visble on the driver side of the block below the front head. It is driven by the front camshaft pulley and a belt that uses a small tensioner. You can release the belt tension by hand. The air filter housing cover and inlet that is attached to the air horn (on top of the engine) and anything connected to this assembly, must be removed. There are also a few small hoses, wiring connectors and other paraphenalia that will have to be disconnected. Make careful observations during dis-assembly and re-assembly. Sorry that my memory is a bit fuzzy on this part, but I recall that some of the pump mounting bolts are what are sometimes referred to as through-bolts (since they pass through something you usually don't want to disturb; in this case the pump housing attached to the block). I was careful not to disturb this housing too much; there may have been one or two bolts holding it in place that did not need to be disturbed. If that's the case, leave them alone and you should not need any other gaskets other than the one for the pump assembly. Always check your new parts for clues to dis-assembly and to confirm you have the right part for the job. Make sure all of the old gasket material has been scraped/sanded of of the block before installing your new or rebuilt pump. Top Ten Car Fix in Williams Directory

Is There Supposed To Be Oil Surrounding Spark Plugs On A 1996 Ford Contour?
u have an oil leak from the head gasket.easy fix. remove the valve cover.u may have to remove the spark plug wires.remember to mark each 1,2,3,4 etc.they to go back the same way.once u'v removed the valve cover scrape away any old gasket residuo on both engine and the cover.go to pep boys and a gasket made 4 your car.get the cork type gasket.don't forget the gasket glue.u may as well clean your plugs while u'r out there.take them out and soak em in a cup of gasoline for about 30min.this will loosen and remove carbon build up.brush them with a copper toothbrush. wipe em off.they are now like new.put them back in no order for plugs just the wires.line the glue around the engine and the valve cover and bolt it back down.wipe off the excess..done.
Blown Or Cracked Head Gasket On Toyota Camry?
My Boyfriend Just Gave Me His Toyota Camry A Couple Of Weeks Ago. Its A 96 Model, And It Has 230K Miles. Last Night It Started To Run Hot. Me Not Knowing Much About Cars And This Problem, I Pulled Over And Turned The Car Off. I Cranked It Back Up Turned Up The Head And Drove The Rest Of The Way Home. It Was Fine The Rest Of The Way. This Morning When I Told Him To Go Out And Put Some Water In It, He Said That The Oil Was In The Water, And That I Have Blown Or Cracked A Head Gasket From Running It Hot. I Asked Him What I Needed To Do, And He Said Nothing Just Drive It Until It Quits And He Will Look More Into It. I Don'T Agree With That At All. He Does Know Alot About Vehicles But That Just Doesn'T Sound Right. I Had The Same Thing Just Happen To My Old Car, It Started Smoking And The Oil And Water Started Coming Out Of The Water (Being The Reason He Gave Me This One). How Much Is That Part? Because When I Get It Replaced He Will Put It In. So I Wouldn'T Have To Pay For Labor. How Long Until What Happened To My Old Car Happens To This One?
What Should I Do? Thank You So Much For All Your Help And Advice!!!
He has seen the car, I haven't. He needs a new girl friend who isn't so hard on vehicles.
Advice About Automotive Repair?
I Asked The Dealer To Repair An Oil Leak. They Replaced The Rear Main Oil Seal In My Car Which Involved Removing The Transmission. Now The Oil Leak Is Repaired, But The Transmission Is Leaking Fluid.
Am I To Pay The Full Price For The Repair Of This Transmission Leak Or Should The Dealer Chip In For Some Of The Cost? Would They Be Willing To Fund Part Of The Cost Of Repair? Or Do You Think They Will Refuse?
most likely they mishandled or damaged something with your transmission during the R&R process....probably a cooler line not tightened properly or something as simple as that...if it wasnt leaking before then they should inspect it for free....if it is determined that the problem was due to negligance...they should repair it for free...if it turns out to be a seal or something non related to the process then they should have discovered the problem while testing the new rear main & notified you of the problem...at this time the reinstallation of the transmission would have been done so the most you can expect will be a slight discount on the labor....a good service tech. should have done a thorough inspection while the trans. was out & any problem,s should have been detected at that time....but that would have been the best case senerio....hope for the best but be prepaired for the worst....good luck!
What Can Cause 1996 Toyota Camry To Overheat?
1996 Camry Check Engine Light On. Car Is Also Overheating In Spite Of Water Pump, Fan, Thermostat, Timing Belt Being Checked/Repaired. I Keep Putting Antifreeze/Water In Car But It Frequently Stays In The Hot Zone When I'M Driving. As Long As The Car Is Just Running Idle, It Never Overheats. As Soon As I Drive Anywhere (Long Or Short Distance) It Goes From Cool Almost Straight To Hot Then Overheats. It Has Started Shutting Off For Periods Of Time Then It Runs Again.
What Else Could Be Causing The Car To Overheat?
Could Catalytic Converter Cause Overheating?
You could have a head gasket leak. When head gaskets go you don't always get water in the oil or oil in the water. Your local shop should be able to test that for you. Its a very simple and fast test using a block tester.
Location Of 1994 Toyota Thermostat And What Would Cause Sweet Smelling Exhaust Other Than Blown Head Gasket?
Why Would My Truck Use Full Gallon Of Antifreeze In Less Than A Week
1994 toyota what? Camry, Celica, 4 Runner what car?. You have a blown head gasket if your exhaust smells sweet. If your car is blowing out white smoke all the time (other than when warming up) you have a blown head gasket. Lots of toyota Straight six's and V6 engines had head gasket and sludge problems in the late 80's and early 90's. If you have a coolant leak and your car is not leaking coolant but you are still using it up your head is blown. you can also check your oil if its milky looking than your engine is done for that's a shore sign of a blown head. also if the coolant has oil in it than that would tell you the same thing.
Can Big Rims Fail My Smog Test?
93 Lincoln Towncar With 22Inch Rims Will The Rims Effect The Outcome Of The Smog In California?
The smog test checks the pollution the ENGINE makes. The wheels have nothing to do with that. However if you are worried about that then replace the custom rims you now have with somebodies stock rims for the test then put yours back on afterwards. Some of those people don't understand or like you because you have the different rims! (Does having the spoke rims make you a bad person?) LOL
