4 Methods To Help Your Lawyer Assist You To When you want a lawyer at all, you have to work closely together as a way to win your case. No matter how competent they are, they're planning to need your help. Allow me to share four important methods to help your legal team allow you to win: 1. Be Totally Honest Or Higher Your lawyers need and expect your complete cooperation - no matter what information you're going to reveal for them. Privilege means everything you say is held in confidence, so don't hold anything back. Your legal team has to know everything in advance - most importantly information other side could check out and surprise you with later. 2. Provide Meticulous Records Keep an ongoing and factual account of most information associated with your case. Whether it's witnesses or payments being made, provide your attorneys with all the data they should help them to win. 3. Show Up Early For All Those Engagements Never be late when you're appearing before a court and steer clear of wasting the attorney's time, too, by being promptly, whenever. Actually, because you might need to discuss eleventh hour details or be extra ready for the truth you're facing, it's a great idea to arrive early. 4. Demonstrate Which You Have Your Act Together If you've been charged with any type of crime, it's important to be able to convince a legal court which you both regret the actions and they are making strides toward enhancing your life. As an example, if you're facing driving under the influence, volunteer for the rehab program. Be sincere and linked to the neighborhood the judge is presiding over. Working more closely together with your legal team increases your probability of absolute success. Try this advice, listen closely to how you're advised and ultimately, you need to win your case.

What Is Divorce Court Like?
What Should I Expect? I Have One Baby And I'M Pregnant And He'S Swore Up And Down He Would Do What Ever It Takes(Legally) To Get The Kids And I Know Once He Gets Them He Would Do Whatever It Takes (Legally Or Not) To Make Sure I Never See Them Again. I Want The Kids To See Him As Much As Possible Without Losing Them Myself. I Jus Wanna Know If It'S Possible If I Jus Ask For The Kids And Nothing Else, I Don'T Even Want Child Support. There Is Nothing Anyone Can Say To Make Me Look Like A Bad Mother Except Sometimes When My Baby Throws Temper Tantrums And Put Her In Her Crib And Close The Door Til She Starts Playing Or Falls Asleep. I'M 19 And Very Independant And Very Lost And Confused, And Know Absolutely Nothing About The Processes I Have To Go Through. Any One With The Facts Of The Things That Will Happen?

Divorce court sucks! It is embarrassing and humiliating. There are a lot of people there who are listening to your private business, and it is so degrading. GET A LAWYER. Do whatever it takes to pay for a good one. Men who are in this position make threats and tell you that things are going to get really nasty and dirty. They can be very intimidating. This is a bluff to make you give in. The louder they bark and the more they threaten you the more scared they are. This is a power issue. Stay strong and definitely get child support. I know how you feel right now. You just want your kids, but don't let him off so easy. Get that support and stand up for yourself. Repeat: Get a good lawyer.

Information To Becoming A Lawyer. Please Help Me!?
I'M A 15 Year Old Wanting To Become A Lawyer, And I Was Wondering What Classes Were Needed To Become Lawyer And Classes That Would Help Me Become A Successful Lawyer. I Also Wanted To Know Where Is The Best Place For A Lawyer To Live In? (Wanting To Become A Immigration Lawyer Or Criminal Defense)

To become a Lawyer, IF you go to school full-time:
1) Bachelor's degree - four years from a traditional college/university.
2) Study for LSAT. Take LSAT.
3) Law school - three more years.
4) Study for Bar Exam. Take Bar Exam in the state where you want to practice.
5) Pass the Character and Fitness Evaluation. Then you can practice Law.
BUT........
6) You still have to take classes/seminars etc. to obtain CEUs to keep your license to practice Law. (You aren't done with school!)

Be aware of what you are proposing on getting yourself into. Please do more research first. Reminder: We are in a World-wide Recession. Consider career paths that have available jobs.<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Warning> Jobs in the field of Law are drying up fast!! This is just not a good field to invest time and/or money into. This is a SHRINKING, crumbling, and dying vocational field. Many reasons. Many people today (mistakenly) think they can do their own legal work, thanks to the Internet. Also, we simply already have way too many Legal Professionals - we have an absolute glut!! ("Legal Professionals" includes, but is not limited to: Attorneys/Lawyers, Paralegals, Legal Assistants, Legal Secretaries, Bailiffs, Court Reporters, etc, etc)

There are no jobs in this vocational field. My family, coworkers, friends, acqaintances, etc. are being laid off left and right in this vocational field.

Employers (usually law firms) in the field of Law today want employees with degrees from traditional colleges/universities. Those "certificates" you see advertised aren't worth the paper they are printed on - they are generally scams. (I found this out the hard way.)

Cost of law school to be lawyer, approx $150,000+.
Be prepared to take on a lot of debt.<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Even if you finish law school, you won't be able to find a job when you are done. Since this vocational field is shrinking, many new attorneys/lawyers are, themselves, having to work "down" as Paralegals, Legal Assistants, Legal Secretaries, Bailiffs, Court Reporters, etc, etc, to simply try to keep some of their bills paid <<this would be your competition. And the competition is fierce!!

Now... the law schools know this, but they won't tell you the truth >that the job market/economy is just saturated with way too many Legal Professionals. Instead the schools will feed you a fairytale and will lie to you. The root of the problem is we have too many law schools. We are in a recession, and the schools are fighting for their own survival - they will tell students anything to get to the students' money. (Which is why they won't tell you the truth about the job market for the field of Law.) And these schools continue to recruit and churn out even more graduates.............Remember: law schools are BUSINESSES - their top concern is making money for themselves.

If you don't believe me, then just do a search here on Yahoo Answers to see what other posters are saying about the current status of the field of Law. Call some local law firms - ask to speak to the Manager of Human Resources - ask them if they are hiring; ask them what they think about job availability in the field of Law..................

In the book "So You Want to be a Lawyer?" by Marianne Calabrese and Susanne Calabrese (ISBN 0-88391-136-1): "The United States has more lawyers than any other country in the world. About 38,000 students graduate >each year< from the 200+ law schools in the United States. The competition is very keen for jobs and clients." - Even Associate Justice Antonin Scalia (who served on the U.s. Supreme Court for more than 20 years) says there are too many lawyers. (9/14/2008)

If you want a job when you are done with your studies, consider and look into the fields of >>>Healthcare or Information Technology! I spoke to a career counselor from Jobs and Family Services, and HE told me that these areas are where the jobs are, and future job availability! and scholarships!

Good luck.

What Is The Difference Between An Attorney And Lawyer?
Is There Even A Difference

In the US, not really. There used to be, but because their actual definitions cover the same ground, they are interchangeable.

I'm linking a pretty good article with the different technically definitions.

"Generally speaking, an attorney, or attorney-at-law, is a person who is a member of the legal profession. An attorney is qualified and licensed to represent a client in court. By most definitions, an attorney may act on the client’s behalf and plead or defend a case in legal proceedings. The English word attorney has French origins, where it meant “a person acting for another as an agent or deputy.”

A lawyer, by definition, is someone who is trained in the field of law and provides advice and aid on legal matters. Because a lawyer also conducts suits in court proceedings and represents clients in various legal instances, the term has expanded to overlap the definition of attorney. In the U.S., attorney and lawyer are normally considered synonyms. The term lawyer has Middle English roots."

Custody Problems? Legal Rights?
My Fiance Has A 4 Year Old Son To His Ex Girlfriend, Who Is A B*Tch To Be Quite Honest. She Is Constantly Starting Problems, Saying Rude Things And Will Sometimes Even Threaten That He Will Not See His Son Anymore. When She Says These Annoying Things I Can'T Help But Get Angry, And I Sometimes Want To Get Very Defensive. I Even Sometimes Get Angry With Him Because He Just Ignores Her, He Says Absolutely Nothing Back To Her Because He Thinks If He Fights Back, She Will Refuse To Let His Son Come Over. In The Past, My Fiance Had A Little Bit Of A Reputation. He Got Into Trouble A Lot, Mostly Minor Stuff But He Did Get Arrested One Time For Getting Into A Physical Fight, The Charges Were Dropped. We Have Discussed Multiple Times About Him Taking Her To Court To Get Legal Joint Custody So That She Can'T Just Decide When She Lets Their Son See His Father. He Pays Child Support Every Week, But He Is Convinced That Because Of His Past He Will Not Get Any Legal Rights, And He'S Actually Afraid That If He Does Take Her To Court, And They Deny Him, That She Will Seriously Keep His Son Away. I'M Not Really Sure What To Do Here. Any Opinons Or Suggestions?

Wow, I could have written this 5 years ago! My, now husband, was told for years that with his criminal record he wouldn't even get visitation with his son, so he should shut up, pay what the mom says to pay,a nd jump through the 400 hoops she says to jump through! It was heartbreaking to see this man I loved bent over a barrel every other week and to just give into her demands. he told me the same things, she feeds the kids, clothes the kid doesn't beat him I have no shot...it finally got SO absurd I told him he either filed for custody or I couldn't stay with him.

He filed for primary custody, and he got it! Then 3 years later we put the mom on sueprvised visits, and now we are seeking to terminate her rights and have me adopt the child. Now granted this mom is a looney bin, so while yeah she feeds her kids she barely disciplines them and they have behavior problems because of it!

The best time to try to get concrete custody is around 4-5, when they are going into school. Then you have the school to back you up that she is a fruit cake! By the way, my husband wasn't in a little bit of trouble, he was in a LOT of trouble! Meth charges, weapons, forgery, and the night he tried to evade the police he even hit the mother of my step son...the court didn't care, he served his time for that, was not on drugs any more, had a job, had a wife, had a stable life! THAT is what the courts cared about from him....and from the mother, they were pretty pissed that she used the child in a threatening way...REALLY pissed!

He needs to file for joint custody, HIM being primary. Get a Guardian ad Litem assigned to your case to really investigate it. And I am telling you that feeling when the papers are signed and you know it is YOUR weekend and you don't have to jump through hoops, or give her extra money, or listen to her mouth...man it is the BEST feeling on the planet!

Help!Baby Mama Situation Need Legal Advice?
Ok So This Is For My Soon To Be Husband. About A Year And A Half Ago He Had A Child With His Ex. ( There Was No Fighting More Then Raising A Voice In This Releationship) Everything Was Was Great Until One Day When The Child Was 2 Months Old. They Had Just Got Done Shopping At The Mall As A Family And As My Bf Was Taking Stuff Into The House Expecting His Babies Mama To Be Getting His Daughter And Being Right Behind Him.. He Turned Around To Seeing Her Get Into The Drivers Seat And Driving Off. This Was The Last Time He Saw His Daughter. He Thought She Must Have Forgot Something But When She Didnt Return He Called Her Parents To Find Out She Went There. Might I Also Add She Never Worked The Whole 3 Years They Were Together. About A Month Before Their Kid Was Born He Lost His Job Due To Poor Economy. But Was Looking Everyday For A New One And Bills Were Paid. When He Talked To Her On The Phone She Said She Needed A Few Days To Think And He Said He Drove To Her Parents For Them To Talk And Left On A Good Note. When He Got Back To His House He Found Her Dad In His House Taking His Babies Crib And Her Belonging. He Then Said 2 Weeks Later He Went To Her Parents House And Asked To See His Daughter. She Wouldnt Allow Him And Called The Cops Saying He Was Trying To Break In Which Was A Lie. Then A Few Days Later He Came Home To Relize She Had Broke In His House And Stole All Of The Pictures Of His Daughter And Had Put A Restraining Order On Him Saying He Abused He And That She Was Afraid For Her Life And A Bunch Of Lies. He Missed His Daughters First Xmas And Birthday. She Hit Him Up With Child Support Which He Is Back On 3000 But The Reason For That Is Because She Lived In A Very Small Town And Her Family Is Well Known There And Is Family Friends With The Judge, He Has Tried To Get A Lawyer But There Is Only 3 In The Area And None Will Represent Him Because They Are Either Related Or Friends With The Family. This Is Why It Has Been Son Long. He Is So Depressed And Feels Like There Is No Hope. How Can I Help Him? I Need To Find A Way To Get His Daughter Back Before It Is To Late. This Is In West Plains Mo.. Any Legal Help Would Be Amazing. And Also He Is On Probation Because He Tried To Call Once And She Called The Cops Saying He Broke His Restraining Order But He Didnt Leave A Message Or Even Get Ahold Of Anyone But When He Went To Court And Told The Judge That She Hit Him With 2 Years Probation. Please Help!!

He needs a Missouri lawyer to file for a change of venue. The restraining orders are a common tactic and very easy to get as David Letterman learned, costing him thousands to defend.
http://people_mag-letterman_fights_restr...

The restraining order is going to be a problem, but you should know it's legal to record any conversation he has with anyone in Missouri.
