Personal Injury Claim?
Hello, I Work At A Sonic Drive-In As A Carhop. I Was Taking An Order Out And Slipped And Fell On Ice And Broke My Leg In Two Places, I Snapped My Tibia And Fibula In Half. I Was Placed Into Immediate Surgery And A Metal Rod Was Inserted In My Leg. I Was Hospitalized For 2 Days Before Being Released. I Was Unable To Walk For 2 Months And Have Attended Physical Therapy Since Then. My Leg Still Swells Up And There Is Light To Moderate Pain. I Have Returned To Work But I Have To Take A Break Every Hour As Advised By My Doctor. I Still Walk With A Limp. I Have Recieved Workmans Compensation For My Loss Of Work And Covering My Hours Since I Cannot Work As Many As I Could Before. I Have Talked With One Lawyer In Okc And He Wants To Start A Lawsuit. I Was Wondering If This Would Be A Good Case, An Estimate On How Much I Could Sue For. What Types Of Things I Can Sue For (Negligience, Pain And Suffering, Etc).. And How Long It Would/Could Take Too Get A Settlement.

Who are you suing?

Normally you can not sue your employer, workers comp is it.

Injuries involving broken bones are great, damages are easier to prove than back injuries. The trick in this one is proving anyone other than your employer was negligent.

You can sue for pain and suffering, lost wages, medical bills. If you want a good settlement it could take a couple years.

Talk to your lawyer about how much he thinks the case is worth.

What To Wear To Law Firm Interview As An Litigation Clerk?
Okay So I Am 19 Female And Have An Interview For A Litigation Clerk Position At A Law Firm. The Dress Code Is Professional. I Am A Law Student As Well But The Position Is Just A Cerk So What Should I Wear I Was Thinking A Navy Blazer Light Blue Buisness Shirt And Some Fitted Black Pants With Black Flats But I Dont Know

I was thinking a skirt suit, with a push up bra, and have the business shirt underneath tight and white.

You'll probably be interviewed by a man and Law is a bit of a man's world still, and as an entry level position they'll care most about your "personality (not really personality, just who they enjoyed interviewing most)".

The best way to use being a woman to your advantage is to not only look extremely professional but also extremely attractive. This will make what ever answer to each question you give sound much better. Remember though, there's a fine line between slutty and sexy/attractive.

I know this all sounds really sexist, but it's true so take my advice or leave it.

Considering you're lack of capitalisation in a few of your sentences along with the fact a litigation clerk is a paperwork position, I advise you take my advice, and act as professional, yet charming as possible.

Can You Tell Me How Do I Go About Finding Out How I Can Inter With A Law Office?

I really wish you intended to type what you did, but (sadly) I suspect you intended to type "intern" rather than "inter" with a law office.

The best way to obtain an internship is to contact the law office and ask if they are open to meeting with you. Prepare a resume, and show it to a lawyer to ask her or his advice. All kidding aside, be sure that your resume has no typos in it -- typos can be a death sentence in the law. Show up for the meeting as if you had been invited for a job interview (i.e., in a suit, prepared to be interviewed, etc.), be enthusiastic, and express your willingness to do tedious work in exchange for the opportunity to learn about the practice of law.

On the other hand, the best way to inter with a law office is to go to law school, and accept a job working for the biggest firm you can get into. You will be interred there (i.e., buried, as in a tomb) before you know it.

Divorce, Custody, & Child Support Questions?
To Give A Little Background My Son Is 18 Mo Old And We Have Been Separated Since He Was 4 Months Old. I Found Out He Was Cheating On Me..Moved In With My Mom And 6 Months Later Got My Own Place. I Didn'T Qualify For Legal Aid And I'Ve Been Saving Up For A Divorce. For About The Forst 6/8 Months We Were Separated He Voluntarily Paid Child Support But Quit In Oct. And Hasn'T Seen Our Child Since Nov. I Went To My Local Child Support Agency And Filled Out An Application For Them To Issue An Order And I Am Waiting For That To Go Through. I Have Tried Contacting Him About Maybe Coming Up With A Visitation Agreement Since The C/S Is Now Out Of Both Of Our Hands (He Was Always Bitter About Paying It) But He Will Not Return My Calls. He Is Very Irresponsible And Has Shown No Interest Our Child...Even When He Was Seeing Him He Cancelled And Was Always Late. Do I Have The Grounds To Ask For Full Legal Custody? And Will I Have To Go To Court For Our Divorce And Custody At The Same Time?

well the honor system doesnt work, thats been proven.

and some guys simply resent paying for their children/view them as burdens.... its their loss, for we get to see every day what a gift they really are.

CUSTODY
anyway, in custody issues, i would have an attorney. any other issues, i wouldnt. most things i handle myself at court (been doing a while now), but i would NEVER do the custody without an attorney.

maybe you will get lucky, and your ex wont have one, so will just sign what ever paper your attorney draws up.

VISITATION
sad as it is, a great deal many parents dont even bother climbing into their trucks and picking their kids up for the weekend. you child is old enough now, so there is no excuse. one thing to keep in mind, is NEVER deny him visitation, unless he is stone drunk or something at time of pick up. you can get in big trouble for it, and some courts will take custody from you if you deny visitation without a dam good reason... like you feared for your childs safety, etc. i've seen courts do it.

keep in mind that even criminals are entitled to see their children (sad but true), so dont deny it.

CHILD SUPPORT
states and federal government are tired of parents not paying for their children. gone are the days of them hiding til the kid hits 18, for child support is forever. even if that child is 30 and getting married, the deadbeat still owes the parent who raised the child.

you best bet, is to learn all that you can about your states laws (every state is slightly different about the guidelines) about child support. today, it can be reported on their credit reports (arrears when they reach a certain amount), tax refund intercepts (state and federal refunds taken if arrears reach a certain amount) taking drivers license away, etc etc.

LEARN IT ALL. it is the best defense you have on behalf of your baby. stay strong and stand your ground. your baby depends upon you doing so.

keep in mind, if ever your child support caseworker (or dept) isnt on the ball, and enforcing all that they can on behalf of your child, then report it (in writing, by FAX ONLY) to your states Attorney General, Governor, and your states Regional FEDERAL Child Support Office. Keep faxing them weekly until they address your case.

LINKS; just click on your state and find the custody, visitation, child support, etc sections you need. let me know if you cant find something and i'll look for it.

Help With My Divorce!!?
My Husband Filed For Divorce....And I Don'T Have The Money For Legal Aid! I Want To Contest The Divorce And The Attorney That I Went To See Quoted Me $4500!! Is There A Way To Get Free Or Low Cost Legal Aid For My Divorce??? Please Help. I Don'T Want To Be At The Mercy Of His Lawyers!!

There should be a place to get free legal help. I know where I'm from you go to the a nursing home or something like that. But you set up an appointment and the attorneys help you for free and give you legal advice. I'd google it to see where a location is near you.
