Finding A Highly Skilled Lawyer Whatever your legal needs are you will notice that there are many lawyers in your town that advertise which they focus on your sort of case. This will make the entire process of finding one with quite a lot of experience a bit of a challenge. However, should you follow the following it will be easy to restrict your pursuit to the correct one out of almost no time. The first step is to make a selection of the lawyers that happen to be listed in the area specializing in your position. While you are which makes this list you should only include those that you have an excellent vibe about depending on their advertisement. You can then narrow this list down by taking some time evaluating their site. There you must be able to find just how many years they are practicing and several general specifics of their success rates. At this moment your list must have shrunken further to those that you simply felt had professional websites plus an appropriate amount of experience. You ought to then spend some time to look up independent reviews of each and every attorney. Make sure to browse the reviews rather than relying on their overall rating. The details within the reviews will give you a solid idea of the direction they communicate with their clients and how much time they invest into each case they are working on. Finally, you should meet up with a minimum of the very last three lawyers which may have the credentials you would like. This will give you time to genuinely evaluate how interested they can be in representing you and the case. It is actually important to follow all of these steps to ensure that you hire a company that has the right amount of experience to help you get the very best outcome.

I Live In Illinois
First of all this is not legal advice, I don't know know Illinois law specifically so these are more or less general observations.
I suspect the reason none of the lawyers want your case is because this is such a small amount and they don't stand to make that much. It's about the money and not the law as far as they are concerned. It stinks, but if you play this right you're better off without one anyway.
A lawyer will take a good size chunk of any settlement you get so you can afford to negotiate down and do as well or even better by yourself. You can also use the mercenary nature of lawyers to your advantage.
If this was somehow related to the transit company, like on one of their vehicles, or she attacked you while on duty, then I would go after the transit company. She was one of their employees and they are responsible for an employee's action while they are work.
File a small claims action against the transit company, there is usually a fee for this because the business has to be served with the court papers, usually by a sheriff's deputy. It's very dramatic.
Anyway this means that they will have to show up in court to defend themselves, either by showing up themselves or sending a lawyer to handle it. That can be expensive, plus they have no guarantee that they will win which means that could be out what your asking plus the lawyers fees. If you have a decent case and we'll assume that you do, they will most likely contact you to settle out of court. You could raise your amount to include missed work, expenses and probably double it then let them back the amount down to get what you wanted.
You can always take the woman who attacked you to small claims too, the problem is that it may be hard to collect any judgement that you win. She most likely won't have a lawyer and with no job, no money.
Like I said earlier, not legal advice but what I would be doing.
Good luck and hope this helps.
Can You Help Me With The Legal Aid As I'M Trying To Build A Lawsuit And Defense For A Friends Court Case?
Theres A False Picture Being Painted Of Whats Really Happened And Slander As Well As Defimation Of Charactor According To The Charges Being Instated And Accused Of And I'M Financially Strapped! So I'M Needing As Much Help/Input As Possible To Be Solid With Proceeding Into This Matter !
What state are you in? What do you mean by charges? If it's a criminal case and your friend cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed for him (public defender).
If you're in CA and the "slander" and or "defamation" was told to a police officer, during the course of an investigation, then your friend can't win. A recent case came out that said those statements are covered by Civil Code 47 (or 45) - the litigation privilege.
Finding A Good Lawyer? Sources, Ways, Internet Searches?
I Need To Hire A Defense Lawyer For An Incident That I Recently Had. Its A Misdemeanor Charge And I'Ve Been Referred To A Couple Of Lawyers, But I Want To Know If I Can Check On This People, Their Credentials, And Customer Reviews. Any Ideas.
The website mentioned by DJ is just an attorney listing service. It is somewhat self serving for attorneys and is not likely to be indicative of anything negative about a particular attorney.
You can check with your state bar association to confirm an attorneys credentials and also whether any complaints have been filed against them with the state bar.
Be aware that any complaints in and of themselves are not necessarily indicative of a bad attorney, especially where litigation attorneys are involved. There are always clients that are unhappy with the results of their case regardless of how realistic their expectations may have been and there is nothing to stop them from filing a complaint against the attorney with the state bar. With that in mind if a few complaints do show up it is important to see how they were resolved by the state bar.
The other place you can check is martindale.com. Martindale is another attorney listing service but it also includes a fairly objective attorney rating service that is based on peer review (i.e by other attorneys, judges, legal academics etc.). It has one rating based on legal accumen and accomplishment and another based on professional ethics. It is important to note however that like all listing services, if a lawyer does not choose to pay for listing you will not find them in there and many competent criminal defense attorneys choose to forgo the expense of paying for attorney listing services.

New Boyfriend With Felony Charges?
Ok, So For The Past Two Weeks I'Ve Been Dating This Guy From Work, Who Has Informed Me That He Has Had Not One, But Two Felony Charges Of Domestic Violence. I Mean One Would Be Forgivable, But Two Raises A Lot Of Red Flags. He Is Been Great Though Besides That. The Perfect Gentleman, Confessing Things To Me From The Beginning, Etc, Kinda What I'Ve Been Looking For In A Guy. I Haven'T Dated In About Eight Years Because Of Bad Decisions And Being A Little Emotionally Damaged, I Can Admit That. I'Ve Step Out Of My Box And Went Against My Rules Of Not Dating Someone With A Record, Dating Someone From Work. Am I Being Stupid For Continuing Things? Should I End It Now Before It Gets Too Serious? Is He Too Good To Be True And I'M Setting Myself Up To Be Victim Number Three?
Oh boy, this is a tough one.
You are right to let red flags raise after 2 FELONIES for domestic violence.
First, how long ago did they happen? If it is something like 10 years ago, maybe he's changed.
If it was like eight months ago, I would RUN away!
Second, I would take it VERY slow with him.
Don't go doing something crazy like moving in or getting engaged any time soon.
Also, because you work with him could be good and bad. It is your chance to watch how he acts and reacts around others. But it could turn out bad if you do go too far and decide to break it off.
Be honest with him. Sit him down and explain these fears. It was a good thing he came out and told you he is not Mr. Innocent, and that you have some concerns.
You need to have him tell you how long ago these events happened, and exactly how and why they happened.
If he cannot accept the fact that you need to know this stuff for your own protection - then there is your answer right there. Head for the hills.
Take your time. Do not be anybody's fool.
Best of luck hun!
Need Help Pleasee Regarding Accident Injury Law.?
I Just Needed Some Advice On Some Legal Issue I Got Myself Into.. So In August I Rear Ended Someones Car At A Stop Light, They'Re Were No Damages On Either Of Our Cars Not Even Scratches, Barely Any Impact Because We Were At Stop Sign And I Couldnt Have Been Going Over 3Km/Hour... Prior To This Incident He Had Gotten Into Accident Where He Was Injured And Won A Bit Of Money From That Accident. When This Incident Happened He Had An Arm Cast.. Now (I Just Got The Letter From An Accident Injury Law Office Today March 15) He Is Claiming That He Suffered Injuries From This Incident.. So This Happened In August Which Is 8 Months Ago. Does He Even Have A Case? And What Steps Are Going To Be Taken. O And The Incident Was So Insignificant That We Didnt Even Call The Police So Both Parties Dont Have A Police Claim.. What Should I Do?? :(
If the police where not involved then no report was filed.. and if it happened as you say. Than no, i don't believe he has a case. A doctor report should confirm if the injury's he sustained are from the previous accident or not. So like i said, if things are as you say, then you should be fine. Note: When in an accident, its always good to take pictures of Everything. If you have any you're solid. Good luck
