I Have An Interview Tomorrow For A Receptionist/Admin Assistant As This Law Firm Here In New York And After Reading All About The Firm On Its Website, I Want To Be Able To Come Up With Some Questions So They Know I Am Interested.. The Firm Deals With Restaurants And Bar Law (They Deal With Entrepreneurs Trying To Starting Their Own Business, Etc) Thank You For The Help In Advance!

Because the questions that are relevant will vary so much depending on the position you are seeking, we are not able to suggest specific questions here. Nevertheless, it will is important that the questions be ones that indicate you are attempting to determine how you can be most effective, not just how your duties can be minimized or your life made easier. Because your position, in one way or another, will be designed to support the work of the firm's attorneys, it is important that you ask some questions that indicate your interest in the attorneys' work. Some general questions can be suggested to you for further refinement:

1.How is a project typically staffed?
2.How many of the firm's lawyers are in a particular department? (if your prior research did not answer this question)
3.Is the department subdivided? If so, how?
4.What different responsibilities would I have?
5.To what degree will I have autonomy in completing the work I am assigned?
6.In the transactional area, what types of deals do paralegals work on?
7.How will I get my work? Will my work be assigned from a department head, or will my work come from just one attorney?

9.What do the interviewers like most about the firm? What do they think needs to be changed?

Never ask about salary or benefits during an interview. In addition, never ask whether the firm frequently terminates attorneys or staff. It is your recruiter's job to obtain this information for you. It's quite possible that the firm may even voluntarily offer this information to you during the interview.

Is A Lawyer Occupation Guaranteed?
I Want To Become A Lawyer With All My Passion..But I Know It's Going To Take 4 Years To Get My Bachelor And 3 Years For Law School... I Want To Make Sure It's An Almost Guaranteed Occupation.. In Other Words .I Want To Make Sure That I Will Get A Job As Soon As I Become A Lawyer... What Do You Guys Think?

Nothing is guaranteed! there are unemployed lawyers. I've seen some very "hungry" self-employed attorneys!

I am a divorce mediator (non-attorney). As we were meeting with a divorcing couple, the husband (an attorney) was going back to the office to terminate the employment of some people.

Need Legal Advice... ?
This Is Probably Going To Get A Little Long... I'll Try To Keep It As Simple As Possible. Basically, I Got A Divorce In February From A Man I Was With For 13 Years. He Supported Us, So I Never Had Any "Real" Jobs... Just Bartending, Etc. What I Made Was Just For Extra Spending Cash. When I Left Him (Long Story, But I Had Good Reason), I Just Wanted Out And He Got Everything! I Didn't Have A Lawyer, And No Money For One, And Had No Idea Where To Go For Help Or Advice. So Basically, I Make About $200 A Week At One Job And About $300 A Week At Another... Just Trying To Make Ends Meet (And Still Not Doing A Good Job Of It). He Has Custody Of Our 2 Children And I'm Paying Him $500/Month, Even Though He Makes Over $50,000 A Year. I Don't Mind Paying Money For My Children, Because I Firmly Believe That They Deserve The Best, No Matter What. But At The Cost Of My Not Being Able To Buy Groceries For Myself And Working 80+ Hours A Week For Very Little Pay? They're Going To Shut Off My Electricity In A Few Days Because I Haven't Been Able To Pay It In 3 Months! Rent Is Coming Due, And I Only Have About $300 Saved Up Towards The $777 That I Owe, After I Pay My Child Support! I Can't Even Afford Gas In My Car To Drive To See My Kids! Is There Something That I Can Do To Get The Custody Situation Readjusted To Better Suit My Income? (I'd Love To Have Custody Of My Girls, But Definately Can't Afford A Custody Battle With Him.) I'm Open To Suggestions And Advice Of Any Agencies I Can Get In Contact With To Help Me. I'm Desparate At This Point, Because In My Apartments, If Your Electric Is Shut Off, You Have 3 Days To Get It Turned Back On Before They Give You An Eviction Notice. Then Where Will I Go? I'll Be Living Out Of My Car In A Parking Lot Somewhere!

YOu need a public advocate. Call your country seat and ask for help from them thatyou need a n advocate tthatare sstrafingand you c\are overworking and that you are overpaying child support.
