Auto Repossession Laws And Advice?
Hello! I Have A Question Regarding A Vehicle Repossession In Georgia. My Car Was Repossessed In November Of Last Year (2009) After I Was 3 Months Past Due On My Loan. I Lost My Job And Was In College Full Time And Was Unable To Pay The Payments. I Tried Everything That I Could To Avoid Repossession, However I Failed At All Attempts. Anyway, I Received A Letter From The Bank Shortly After They Got The Car Back That Told Me That They Were Going To Sell It At A Public Auction Unless I Requested A Private Sale, Etc. I Did Not Respond To The Letter Because I Had Already Tried To Sell The Car To No Avail. I Got A Letter Today Telling Me That They Sold My Car On June 30Th At An Auction For 1800, Which Leaves A Deficiency Of $4,352.30 That I Owe In Full Within Ten Days Or They Will Take Further Action Against Me. I Was Wondering What I Should Do, As I Obviously Can Not Pay Them. I Can Barely Pay My Bills That I Currently Have. My Husband And I Are Living With His Parents, We Share A Car Now And I Do Not Work As I Am In College. I Graduate In Three Weeks (Nursing) And Will Get A Job Shortly After That (Providing That I Pass The Boards). Would The Bank Be Willing To Wait Until Then? And Even Then, I Can Only Do A Payment Arrangment. Also, I Thought That The Bank Was Required To Tell Me When And Where The Car Would Be Sold So That I Could Come To The Auction If I Chose? Thanks For All Help In Advance!

[sigh] the GA law on this is online. there may also be an arm of the state government that offers handouts, etc. on the subject which summarizes the law.

the time when you should have been looking this up was immediately after the repo -- now is almost certainly too late.

their next step will probably be to sell the 4352.30 debt to a collection agency. you'll like for that to not happen -- it'll harm your credit even more [you've already got 90 days past due and the repo on the list].

call the people you used to deal with in the collections department and ask for the manager. [no underling has enough authority for what you want].

tell the manager the truth of the situation -- just about to graduate and should be able to make payments in three to six months. ask if you can convert the deficiency to an unsecured loan with payments to begin 45 days after you're employed. s/he won't want to do it; so you'll have to remind them that they probably only get 30 cents or so on the dollar if it goes to the collection agency and that suing would cost the bank even more through attorney's fees -- all of which you will help them avoid as soon as you're working as a Nurse.

Why Fathers Are Discriminated In Child Custody Cases?
They Usually Win The Child Custody Which Is Very Unfortunate For Fathers. I Have Seen Many Mothers Who Don'T Even Allow Fathers To See Their Own Children. I Mean Who Has Given Them The Right To Prevent Their Own Child To Meet His Or Her Father ?? Don'T Give Me The Reason That Mothers Carry Child For 9 Months Because If It Aren'T For Fathers They Don'T Have Anything To Carry Or Give Birth In The First Place . If Laws Like This Are Not Even &Quot;Gender Neutral&Quot; And Favour Women Like This Then Why Feminists Are Ranting About Equality ??

Why Do Women Win Custody?

There are many reasons why women win custody in the overwhelming number of cases. Chief among them: Because that's the way it's always been. Traditionally, men worked and women stayed home to raise children. Although that is less frequently the case these days, there is still a bias toward women in child custody cases.

From a biological perspective, we are more inclined to think of the mother-child relationship than the father-child relationship. Many people make the automatic assumption that women are more nurturing as parents than men.

In awarding custody, judges will decide what's in the best interests of the children. In determining "best interests," the judge will look at a number of factors, including:
•Which parent has the most suitable character and temperament to serve as custodian?
•What is the child's relationship with each parent?
•What child-rearing skills does each parent have?
•Does either parent have an illness or habits that may harm the child?
•Which parent will provide the best home environment?
•Does the child have stronger emotional ties to one parent?
•Is one parent better suited to meet the child's special needs?
•Who has the child been living with?
•What is each parent's employment status?
•What is the financial status of each parent?
•What is each parent's apparent motive for seeking custody?
•Is either parent unfit to have custody?
•Which parent is the most likely to allow the child to continue his or her relationship with the other parent and extended family?

Some of these factors have a natural bias that favors mothers over fathers.

The stupidest thing I've ever seen was when I was working as a carpenter on a Commercial Project for a GC.

We were building a strip mall and all he did was, push, push and push the men. He had brought in a Bobcat to dig the trenches for the Plumbers. He also scheduled the Store Front men to install the Windows. So there they were installing the storefronts and after they were done, he realized they couldnt get the Bobcat out. Everyone of the job laughed there heads off ..................

Why Was Lee Harvey Oswald Not Allowed To Have Any Legal Representation Before He Was Permanently Silenced?

Because he wasn't under arrest. He was being detained under suspicion to have committed murder. Until he was arrested, he did not need legal representation. All he had to do was invoke the 5th.

Unfortunately, Jack Ruby's bullet found him before he had the chance to be arrested and interrogated with legal counsel present.

What Experience Does A Lawyer Need?
It'S For A Very Important Project I Have To Do , I Need To Know What Experience Is Needed (Work Experience, Intership, Ect. Things Like That. , And I Also Need To Have A Website You Got The Information From For The Bibliography. Please Help Me :)

To practice law, a lawyer needs three things:

1. A Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school;
2. A passing score on the bar exam given by the state in which the lawyer wishes to practice law;
3. A screening of the prospective lawyer's moral character and personal background.

To get in to law school typically requires having first obtained a four-year degree (usually called a Bachelor's Degree) from an accredited undergraduate university. Law school is then three or four years of study focused on different aspects of the law. So for most lawyers, that's at least seven years of higher education.

The bar exam is a two- or three-day long test, depending on the state. For me, it was the most difficult test I ever took. At minimum, lawyers are tested on their knowledge of professional responsibility and ethics, torts, contracts, constitutional law, civil procedure, trusts and wills, real property, criminal law, and whatever family law is called in their state (community property, marital relations, or so on). This doesn't mean the lawyer is an expert in all those fields, just that the lawyer knows enough to handle basic questions. Still, it's a lot of knowledge to have.

The moral character and background check is run by either a state agency or a private company under contract from a state agency. They look to see what kind of debts the lawyer has, whether the lawyer has been convicted of crimes of moral turpitude (meaning ones that suggest the lawyer is, for instance, a violent person or has done things involving dishonesty), and whether the lawyer has any substance abuse problems. Many states require the lawyer to pass a formal examination on ethics as part of this process, too.
