I Need Legal Advice.....?
Here'S The Situation....
I Slept With A Girl 3 Months Ago. She Just Contacted Me Saying That She'S Pregnant. I Don'T Know If I Believe Her. I Want Her To Get An Abortion And She Says That She Wants One Too. (If She'S Really Pregnant) I Have Offered To Go To The Clinic With Her And She Refuses. I Really Don'T Believe Her At This Point But I Need To Know Or Sure. I Think She Is Just Try To Get Money Out Of Me. ( I Offered To Split The Cost Of The Abortion With Her) So, What Are My Rights? Can I Have Both Her And Myself Sign A Document Stating She Must Get An Abortion And If She Doesn'T And If I'M The Father I Do Not Want Any Association With The Child. Is That Possible? Can I Just &Quot;Make It Go Away&Quot; Please Help!
You can request a medical test to find out if the girl is really pregnant. She can refuse your request.
You can request a DNA test to find out if the fetus is your child. I do not know how old the fetus has to be before they can do that. If the results of the test show that you are NOT the father, then it is up to you whether you want to help the girl anyway, out of friendship, but you do not have to.
If the DNA shows that you are the father, then it does not matter what you want, you will be supporting the woman's decision for the life of the child.
To make this "go away" you could try to go live in some other community, with a slight change in your name, do not file any change of address with anyone, sever all relations with friends and family. You might get away with it, but there are ways to track you down.
Meanwhile it is the woman's body. You cannot force her to have an abortion. She has to decide whether or not to do that, provided you are in a jurisdiction where an abortion is legal ... and note that when it is legal, it is only legal up to a certain legth of time after the baby was started ... you can't wait until the last minute.
Pregnancy does things to a woman ... she might have trouble deciding what to do.
The best way to avoid this kind of mess in the first place is to abstain from unsafe sex.
Good Article About Drinking And Driving?
I'M Involved In My School'S T.A.D.D. Group, And Will Be Serving Mocktails At School This Week. Since It'S Our Last Week Of School, I'D Also Like To Hand Out An Article About Drinking And Driving. Something That Will Hit Home, Or Something That Will Show Alternatives To Drinking And Driving. Something About A Drunk Driving Accident Around The End Of The School Year Would Be Good. Thanks!
well i drink i don't drive Ive heard to many bad storeys like the girl a grad higher than me lost both her parents and her use of legs when hit by a drunk driver, like my uncle who only had a Little and got his motorcycle cut off and died when he couldn't slow down, like the guys from the power Point who played chicken with a train and lost all there limbs died instantly, like the 19 y.o who hit a guy who was sober and didn't deserve it a ( the sober guy that is ) drunk *** got 6 mouth in jail the Innocent guy lost the use of his arm's and legs at 16... basically every time you drink and drive you risk your own life and the life's of innocents. and if you die doing it you just might make the news so your friends, prees and family can say " LOSER, assshole, I knew he would do something stoopid like that , she killed someone, why is my son dead and he lives?.... so go ahead drink drive ruin as many life's as you can and never for get what you did and how EASILY you could have stooped it take a cab 30- 50 bucks is way cheaper than a lawyer
Grandparents Visitation Rights?
My Son Has Been Dead For Appx A Year. Up Until That Time The Mother Of His Children Used Me For Money In Exchange Of Seeing My Grandchildren And Leaving Them With Me On Weekends, School Vacations Etc. Now That He Is Dead I'Ve Seen Them Exactly 3 Times. She Is Living With A Man That Was In Prison For 10 Years On Drug Charges(That I Know Of). We'Ve Been Told By The Mother We Couldn'T See Them And Told The Children Can Not Receive Any Presents Or Communication From Us. Their Father Was My Only Child And His Boys Are All I Have Left Of Them. The Oldest Child Has Problems With His Eyes And The Mother Does Not Make Him Wear His Glasses (Which We Bought) And The Youngest Has A Speech Problem. The Children Are Boys, Ages 14 And 11. I'M Sure I'M Leaving Out Alot Of Details, But This Is The Generalization Of The Situation. At Xmas The Mothers Boyfriend Told Us To Never Contact The Mother Or The Children Ever Again. The Mother Has Disappeared With The Boys In The Past And I'M Afraid She Will Do It Again Now That We Know Where They Live And Go To School. Which Is Only 3-4 Miles From Us. We Really Don'T Have Alot Of Money, We Live On A Fixed Income But We'Ve Always Loved And Cared For The Boys Since They Were Born. We Live In South Carolina, If That Makes A Difference. Where Can We Go Or What Should We Do?
What a sad, sad situation....GENERALLY, grand-parents are not entitled to visitation rights...However, in your circumstances (with the child's father deceased...), the judge may make an exception because of the relationship you have already established with your grandkids and visitation may be possible. In any case, you should petition the court for visitation and let the judge decide what is in the best interest of the children (that is the true legal test). If the judge decides that it would be beneficial to the children for you to continue your relationship with them, and from the sound of your story, I don't know why he wouldn't, you could well be awarded visitation rights. You really do need an attorney, sweetie...I think you should continue to try to stay in contact with the children....Send cards, letters, gifts, whatever...If they are returned to you, save them up in a box and someday, when the kids are old enough you may have a chance to show it all to them. At that point, "Momma", if that's what you want to call her, will have some explaining to do. Jeez, the kids already lost their father and now she (or her boyfriend) wants to deprive them of their grandparents too....Very sad...
Is The Credential Assembly Service For Law School Applications Worth The $124 The Lsac Charges?
Yes. Oh God yes.
First, many schools won't accept an application that isn't sent through the CAS. If you want to go to those law schools, you'll have to sign up for the CAS. That's a pretty good reason to sign up right there (hooray monopolies!).
Second, it's really an amazing service. Professors only have to print out a single copy of the letters of rec they write for you. You only have to obtain a single copy of your transcript. No more writing out 11 checks to each of the schools. You don't have to fill out your contact info on each application. No more going through each application package to ensure everything is there. No more worrying if your app got lost in the mail. All of that stuff takes a lot of time. A lot. And then you worry that it's still not done. With the CAS, you only have to mail a single copy of everything to the LSAC and they take care of the rest. A few checkboxes later, and your applications are where they need to be. I love that service; I think it's a huge time-saver and well worth the $130. Applications without the service would take at least 10 times as long, and your time is worth more than that!
National War Labor Board Significance?
Why Was The National War Labor Board Historically Significant?
The National Labor Board (NWLB) was established during World War I in April 1918. It was first headed by Samuel Gompers, president of the AFL (American Federation of Labor) a huge, successful labor union.
Cochaired by labor attorney Frank Walsh and former president William H. Taft, the NWLB acted as a kind of supreme court for labor, dealing with disputes and working to prevent disruptions in production. The effects of the NWLB was mostly improved wages and reduced hours of work. It supported the right to workers to organize unions, the acceptance of the 8 hour day for war workers, time-and-a-half pay for overtime, and equal pay for women workers.
Also note: during WWII, the NWLB mediated disputes between labor and management.
