Is An Undated Power Of Attorney Valid?
Laws vary by state. Generally, a date is required on a legal document whenever that date might be relevant. The blanket statement that all legal documents require dates is incorrect.
As far as a power of attorney, this allows a person (the agent) to act on behalf of another person. Dates on the document might become relevant if there is a question of whether the agent was acting before or after the power of attorney had been signed. Without a date, there may be grounds to challege the action as not having been authorized at the time.
All such laws vary by state. Check your local listings for details.
How Can I Find A Lawyer?
My Childrens Father Passed Away Last Year. He Died Leaving A Mortgage On His House. His Father ( Childrens Grandfather) Took It Upon Himself To Take Care Of The Legal Matters, Even Hired A Lawyer For This. He Came By The House To Try To Get My Autistic Son ( Age 21)To Sign Over His Rights To The House But I Told My Son Not To Sign Anything Just Yet. Well The Father Gave The House Back To The Bank, When He Did This, The Bank Went After The Children And Sued Them ( Ages 13, 16 And 21 ) My Chidlren Have Not Gotten Anything From Probate, No Money, Only The Clothes They Had At Their Fathers House. The Grandfather Even Kept Their Fathers Ashes. I Have Been Trying To Find A Lawyer To Help With This Case But No One Will Help ( Something About Tort Reform ) I Am Not Asking For A Lawsuit, I Only Want Someone To Represent The Kids In This Matter. I Will Tell You This, My Handicap Son Has Had On Going Melt Downs Because Of This Lawsuit. He Keeps Asking Me If He Is Going To Jail When He Has Done Nothing Wrong. How Can I Find A Lawyer? I Have Had 5 Lawyers Turn Me Down And I Am Not Asking For A Lawsuit Either, Just A Lawyer To Handle This For The Kids. Should I Just Let This Go? What Can They Get From Kids When The Kids Have Nothing?
If you need help finding a lawyer in your area, try the state bar association web site.
If you have found lawyers, but they are unwilling to take your case, that may be because you don't have one that they can win. Lawyers run businesses, and if a potential client walks in, and doesn't have a case or can't pay, most lawyers will not be willing to represent them. Additionally, lawyers have a professional obligation to not make frivolous arguments to the court, and they may deem your case to be frivolous.
I'm not saying you don't have a case, just that that may be a reason lawyers aren't taking yours.
Community Service For Law School?
I Understand That Service Can Help You Get Into A Better Law School But How Do We Let The Law School Know That We Are Really Doing Community Service And Not Making It Up. Im A Freshman In College Wit A 3.3 Gpa At Cuny John Jay (It Is Going Up Higher Now) And I Intend On Doin Community Service. I Just Want To Provide Myself Wit Higher Percentage Of Acceptance Into A Top Law School. I Understand That Gpa And Lsat Score Goes A Long Way But Are There Any Other Side Tips That U Can Recommend. Im A Black Male Also. Thanks
Community service is good and any type of work in the community is a good diversity indicator. It shows that you not just about books and law but you care for and are active in the community as well. I would suggest becoming involved in charity work. Sign up for one weekend every couple of months of work with habitat for humanity. It doesn't take a lot of your time and it will show a long-term commitment of giving to the less fortunate. (Admissions love that). Find different things in your community that you can participate in.
It’s even better if you can get on a committee or be a part of the leadership team for a charity event, that looks awesome when it comes to admissions. I worked on an American Cancer Society Annual Golf Tournament Committee. It was 2 meetings every quarter, and one weekend in August in which we had the event. Plus I got to play 18 holes for free. Go to local high school or middle schools and say that you would like to help organize their next charity drive. They will appreciate the help and you will benefit from having the "soft factor" on your application.
This is a general rule of thumb when it comes to adcomms and it basically answers your question in a nutshell.
You GPA and LSAT can get you into consideration for a school, your soft factors get you noticed and make you stand out from all the other people with your exact same numbers.

Rape Case! Experience Lawyers Please!?
I'M Studying Law, Doing Highers First But Studying Law At The Same Time So I Know A Good Deal Before I Go To Law School, So I Don'T Know Every Aspect Of The Subject Just Yet.
I Was In A Relationship Where I Got Beaten And Raped, I Have Proof Of Him Beating Me And Raping Me Cause He Sent Me Texts & Emails Saying He Was Sorry For Raping Me And Beating Me, I Was 15 When We First Started The Relationship And He Raped Me During That Time Too, He Also Has Taped Us Having Sex When It Was Concented Like 'Porn' And I Didn'T Know Until Yesterday That He Had These Videos And Was Planning To Put Them On The Internet ( A Polish Website That Allows Porn ) And He Can Delete The Films But He Sent Me A Text Saying They Where Going On The Internet So He Couldn'T Act Stupid In Front Of Lawyers Etc, I Only Ended The Relationship 1 Month Ago Cause I Blamed Him For My Miscarriage, I Was Wondering What My Rights Where, Could I Take Him To Court For Raping Me Etc Even Although We Where In A Relationship?
I think you have a good case. I don't think there's a right way to tell your parents. Just find a time to get them together when things are relatively calm and tell them. Talking about it takes away the power that the rape can hold over you. Talking is a gate into freedom. This shouldn't affect your ability to become a lawyer. If you start working on the psychological issues from the rape it should help you be an even better lawyer. Don't be afraid to pursue your dreams.
I Filed A Complaint Against A Nurse Who Started A Secret Affair With My Husband. The Kids And I Have Been?
Though A Lot. My Husband Is Divorcing Me As He Plans To Marry Her After She Dumps Her Husband. Today I Was Served With An Ex-Parte Order Of Protection On Her Behalf. She Claims I Am Stalking Her Because Of Making Complaint To Her Employer About Her Actions I Talked To Her In The Parking Lot Where My Husband Works And For The Second Time, Asked Her To Discontinue Her Secret Relationship (I Didn'T Know It Had Become A Physical Affair As Well) And I Also Saw Her As I Was Leaving A Counseling Appointment I Had Because Of Her Secret And Unprofessional Dealings With My Husband. The Kids And I Seem To Have No Rights: My Husband Is Running Around Like A Lunatic And I Am Have To Come Up With Money For Legal Fees, Counseling; I'M Going To Have To Figure Out Where To Get Money To Find A Place To Live. With All Of The Emotional Upheaval And Betrayal, I Really Feel Like I'M Being Bullied Or Retaliated Against. If I'D Known That Nurses Can Be Justified In Actions Such As She'S Committed, I'D Have Been Sitting There Every Minute. The Hospital Says They Have No Responsibility Unless They Were Having Sex While He Was Getting His Iv Treatments. Am I Wrong In Thinking Someone Is Mismanaging This? I Just Want Some Peace To Be Able To Think . I Spoke With A Couple Of Attorneys, But They Don'T Seem Very Interested And Tell Me To Just Deal With The Divorce. I'D Live To. I Had To Hire An Attorney I Can Ill Afford After My Husband Did; He Wants Me Out Of The House The Day He Gets His Final Order. I Wanted To Go Through Mediation Or Between Us; The Only Thing He'Ll &Quot;Agree&Quot; To Is That I Leave, Take All Debts And Give Him All Else (Except My Clothes, Books, Odd & Ends). We Live In A No-Fault State, Married About 8 1/2 Years, Divorced Previously. Married Again This Year; We'Ve Lived Together The Past 5 Years And &Quot;Dated&Quot; About A Year Before Getting Back Together. Anyone Have Any Feasible Ideas Of How I Can Handle Some Of This Emotional And Legal Overload? I Have Evidence That Contradicts Her Claims; It Is My Understanding That I Am Not Committing A Wrong Against Her By Filing A Complaint With Her Employer; We Have Had Numerous Emotional Financial And Relationship Stresses Over The Past Two Years Related To His Serious Medical Issues. No, I'M Not My Former Chipper, Happy Self, But I Never Realized That I Should Have To Even Think About Something Like This Going On And Destroying My Family.
