Grandparent's visitation rights granted, when, terminated, when--guardian ad litem appointed, when--attorney fees and costs assessed, when.
452.402. 1. The court may grant reasonable visitation rights to the grandparents of the child and issue any necessary orders to enforce the decree. The court may grant grandparent visitation when:
(1) The parents of the child have filed for a dissolution of their marriage. A grandparent shall have the right to intervene in any dissolution action solely on the issue of visitation rights. Grandparents shall also have the right to file a motion to modify the original decree of dissolution to seek visitation rights when visitation has been denied to them; or
(2) One parent of the child is deceased and the surviving parent denies reasonable visitation to a parent of the deceased parent of the child; or
(3) The child has resided in the grandparent's home for at least six months within the twenty-four month period immediately preceding the filing of the petition; and
(4) A grandparent is unreasonably denied visitation with the child for a period exceeding ninety days. However, if the natural parents are legally married to each other and are living together with the child, a grandparent may not file for visitation pursuant to this subdivision.
2. The court shall determine if the visitation by the grandparent would be in the child's best interest or if it would endanger the child's physical health or impair the child's emotional development. Visitation may only be ordered when the court finds such visitation to be in the best interests of the child. However, when the parents of the child are legally married to each other and are living together with the child, it shall be a rebuttable presumption that such parents know what is in the best interest of the child. The court may order reasonable conditions or restrictions on grandparent visitation
In other words, if you and the father divorce or if he dies, she would have a right to file to try to force you to let her see the child, but you could argue that it wasn't in the child's best interests to have contact with her. If you and the father are married and raising the child together, you get to decide whether she sees the child or not and there's nothing she can do about it.

Where Can I Find A Good Personal Injury Lawyer Or A Good Lawyer Who Specializes In Mesothelioma And Personal Injury Structured Settlements?
If You Were A Lawyer...?
Would You Rather Be A Defense Lawyer Or A Prosecutor? And Please Explain Why. Thanks.
Though i spend most of my time defending people IRL lol,
if i were a lawyer, i would rather prosecute;
The reason being, not because i think that the accused do not deserve defense, but because (whereas it concerns rapists, pedophiles, murderers etc) I'd rather remove them from society, then have to be the one charged with the job of keeping them in it.
Besides, though i believe and understand that everyone deserves defense, and am one that is all for grace and second changes, i also could not rationalise defending someone that i knew was guilty of commiting a horrific crime.
Though i believe in Grace, i also believe in consequences. As well as believe in justice.
"Acquitting the guilty and condemning the innocent-- the Lord detests them both." Proverbs 17:15
"When men have a dispute, they are to take it to court and the judges will decide the case, acquitting the innocent and condemning the guilty." Deuteronomy 25:1
*edit* frankm: um, that's kind of an ignorant assumption. maybe some are, but not all lawyers are liars.

Best Schools To Study International Law At?
Ok, So I Really Want To Be A Lawyer, And Am Interested In Studying International Law. Problem Is, I Don'T Know Which School'D Be Best To Go To? I Know Schools Like Harvard Or Yale In The Us, Or Oxford In London Are Great, But Which Is Best For International Law, And Are There Any Other Good Ones In Europe?
If you want to do international law in a US-based firm, then you need an American JD. If you want to work for a European firm, you need a law degree from that country. A myth of international law is that you need or can use a foreign law degree. In reality, American lawyers who practice international law all got their JDs here in the US and simply work for American international law firms.
International law is pretty difficult to break into and you want to go to the best law school you can. The best law school for international law is the best law school. You don't need to specialize in this field in law school. You'll be much more limited by the school's ranking and prestige than you will by the lack of an international law concentration or international law classes. So, when looking at American law schools, just focus on the top 14 and ideally the top 6. Beware schools that market their "international" programs, because course offerings do not equate to job offers.
